About six months ago I was chatting in the carpark to a guy who I had just surfed with...traveling up the coast from South Australia...he may have said grouse a dozen times in our half hour conversation. Really liked it actuallyCranked wrote:Yep, a wonderful anachronism overdue for a revivalsaltman wrote:grouse !

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Six foot? Are you talking headhigh? Or double overhead? Cape Otway is meant to be DOH. But you're east of Wilsons Prom aren't you ? How's 14 seconds of SW groundswell making thru it out your way with 6 foot waves? You're talking headhigh aren't you.

When I was in Beijing we stayed in a Hooton. Up the alleyway was a pile of little cafes. One did BBQ.........including Bbq Spinal Column. Yum yum.
When I worked out near Belmore the butcher shops used to have goats heads on display with the top sliced off so you could see the brains.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
No. Fcuk that.
Got lucky over the weekend. Checked the surf on sunday about 1.30pm, 8 guys out. Decided to go out with a mate. After we paddled out 7 guys went in. 3 of us left out there with consistent 3 ft left runners, light onshore but smooth faces. We had it for nearly 2 hours just trading waves before the hoards hit it. Just as we got out, 6 guys were at the shore line about to hit it. 6 more in the carpark waxing up. Lucky break.
Felt like we'd won the $2 lottery.

Told you I travel a lot, what's the point in conversing with you if you don't listen, 6 foot sets again this morning, got no time to talk about imperial dick measurements.Hatchnam wrote:Six foot? Dissapointing waves at the bra considering swell and winds..

Re: Where did you surf today ?
disappointing, indeed. but are you surprised?Drailed wrote:Dissapointing waves at the bra considering swell and winds..
yes, it an east swell, with favourable NNW winds, which maroubra loves, as you know...
but much to the point, it's a 13 second period swell. for the most part, you can forget all about maroubra at anything over about a 10 second swell. same applies for nearly all beach breaks. 13 second swell periods on beach breaks = very long waits with very long/straight waves. maroubra would have single waves spanning 300-500 hundred metres wide at 13 seconds. no peak, just a ruler-edge straighty.
go
find
a fkn
reef break
or
point
if
it's
13 seconds
