I don't think they're that smart steve. You'll have to lift your game a bit if you intend to make a decent showing tomorrow.

Yeah. Ask him why he has always persisted with surfboards that are hard to ride (properly) and look horribly dysfunctional? My first two boards were McCoy's. When I shook the chains off it was like a blind man seeing for the first time.

On the ECL...maybe it had something to do with it being so close that it couldn't dredge all that sand out but rather just shuffled it around a bit.

Narrabeen stretch is always better when you can see the foundations of the houses, backwashy as fcuk but it creates some great sections.
Geoff has moved on to a higher plane now, taking the accolytes who still believe in him with him.

Higher plane? I'd call fat old kook land more of a parallel universe

He said he's a life long McCoy fan, mostly because they paddle like a mal and surf like a shortboard

Gees, that took a while. Did he really beery... I didn't realise he was a McCoy acolyte, he must be one of those ones sucked up onto that higher plane, a whole new level of being, one that I can only aspire to.

Why is his motto "designs to free your mind", but there aren't too many open minds amongst the McCoy crew?

I've also heard the crew blow up over Cheyne Horan, how he has his own board designs. The common argument is that a surf team is like Formula 1 - you wouldn't buy an F1 car from the driver, you should stick to the designer / Engineer. And on that note, who does Geoff trust these days as his test pilot?

I like the boards for the most part, but I am a kook. The pot belly is a design I wouldn't mind trying out, but as a quad - those big backends are a huge engine room just waiting for an extra gear.

You'd have to have legs like tree trunks to change direction even slightly on a quad nugget

They feel more like ocean liners than surfboards

not sure batoes. I know very little about McCoys and never surfed one.

I do like the idea of something relatively short with a heap of volume'

anyway I've got till September to think about it

I've got a mate with a 6'0 nugget - she's old, but plenty of volume. Not sure if that's long enough for you or not - but they do pack a lot of volume in them. My fav was a 5'8 nugget - they do love a wave with curve.
