The 3 year long summer of Karlos (yes Kunji, it lasted that long due to advantageous employment conditions) came to an end about a week & a half ago. Getting established in the new job has involved some rather long days ruling out (for the time being at least) mid week sessions. Back to being a weekend warrior, right at the time it's looking pretty damn good surf-wise.
Employment gets in the way of life again. Who came up with this shit anyway?

Just guessing, haven't looked at the wave plots
Maybe Boo, it was sustained. The intriguing thing for me is the improvement in banks along the whole east coast. The ECL appears to have improved surf conditions everywhere, which I would suspect is highly unusual. The odd thing is that some beaches at the epicentre of the storm suffered major sand erosion while other beaches slightly north or south went relatively unscathed. Most , however, report better banks from the storm. Quite epic banks in fact. A universal improvement in sand banks along the East Coast (for surfing purposes) from one ECL, usually known for smashing banks and gouging sand. Kind of weird and kind of shits me as I can't surf at present.
Be interesting to see what happens after this weekend with another close swell event.

Hats off Karlos. 3 years is an achievement that deserves a tip of the hat. Bet you're suffering now though. Agree about the life / work balance. Things get fcuked up and doing 5 days a week is just fcuking the planet faster.

I suspect it is a coincidence Duck. Medium sized Autumn swells and offshore winds coming on the back of the ECL giving the impression of causality

Yep. Sounds likely, especially when the swell is not too straight or too powerful for the beaches. Some swell signatures seem to work everywhere.

Well if the nor-east swell forecast down here for the weekend really thumps in, will that serve to enhance or diminish current conditions?

I remember some wheelchair xylophonist getting all macho about how he liked to smash absolutely heaps of Weetbix before a hard day's roofing

No idea.
Would depend on the beach.
But NE swells on a Southerly aligned bank are manna from heaven for goofies

Surfed Rags last week...head and a half, mechanical, super fun...would be even better if a few locals would step up and enforce some etiquette in the line up

Spent the day talking to Byron bay shapers for a project.
Hanging with Geoff McCoy tomorrow, any-one got any questions they would like me to ask him?

Can you ask him if he is flattered by Roy Stuarts 3D printed imitations of his fins?

Steve for McCoy. Will he ever bring out a Quad model? And does he still surf his new creations prior to release. And has he generally finished with the human race as an intelligent species (this might be "refer to question 1" in this set).

for McCoy - Rogers shaped Nuggets - better or worse? Or not real Nuggets?
Actually I would be interested if he thinks the xf or other construction methods are an improvement on traditional methods (or perhaps better for certain people or certain conditions).

Is that in reference to his clientele?

hey steve, how about you ask him what the deal is with the close-up pic on the design page of his website where he's signed the blank with 'McCoy for Kelly'
