Come on guys, it's not that hard to do basic ding repair. I only hit a ding repair guy if its chronic, major stuff or the board is heirloom quality.

Uv resin + clear sticky tape to conform to the rail = save a heap of sanding time. Only for small dings though. Only got 2 poly boards now so don't need to do it very often.

Well actually it's more like I don't need to do it very often these days because I'm lucky to surf twice a month. Fkkukking sad really

yeah I do that.

I'm talking creases, snaps, fin sets.

IN this case I'd borrowed my daughters board and gouged a nice hole in the bottom by dry docking it on a recalcitrant rock.

it needed a pro repair.

Now Now Steve-O, you know you will never get me to bite Like I do you.... did someone say Telo Lodge board review?

Anyhow, I think a lot of us been down the fix your own ding route, get the gear, take 4 hours to do a functionable yet aesthetically poor job, get messy, deal with stinking chemicals and then get over it and realise your time is much better spent giving someone else $60 to do it.

i think it was Rod Kirsop who said a proper surfer fixes his own dings, but doesn't get one that often.

The longer I surf, the less dings I seem to be getting. Was just thinking that the other day actually...

Few years ago, elbows, knees, feet... all manner of causes for dings!!

If you were at Bondi the only choice is shitty closeouts. I can't believe how the surf there has been so bad for so long.
Erase.

A year or so back I took my yellow board out of the water and went over it with a fine tooth comb, repaired all the little cracks and marks and even polished out some scratches. Looked a million dollars.
First surf out my leggie broke and it washed up on the rocks.
Got a whole heap of fresh scratches but no dings.
They're still there.

But yes, I fix my own.
Last paid for repair was on the green board I took to Sydney with me. Tore the fin out on a rock.

Stu Entwhistle repaired it. THAT'S how long ago it was. #*!

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

I've repaired my own since I was a grommet. I love the smell of acetone in the morning!

Have only ever paid twice: once for a crease and once for a torn out glassed in fin.
Erase.

Anyone dinged a Tuflite before? I caved part of the rail in yesterday with my shin after the strong cross-shore flicked it out from under my feet mid-carve.

Creased a tuflite Webber Afterburner once, went alright afterwards, tried to sell it and ended up giving it away.

Could you just bung in a stack of solar res.

After giving it a decent test out I'm actually liking the feel of Tuflite in small to mid sized conditions. Wind and chop be an issue given their lightness and more rigid flex . In big (especially stormy) conditions I can't see them being a good fit . Too light and floaty .

My favourite repair was a three inch deep fin gouge in the rail of a tuflite. After a bit of on line searching and a brief but very much appreciated chat to the guy at Jacksons on the phone I got some epoxy putty, bunged it in the hole, sanded back, got some araldyte and matting, applied that, sanded and then spray painted it with a small can of auto paint to match. A bit rough if you look closely but it's been as good as gold for two or three years now. Ride it all the time at Bondi.

Took a mal to ding repair to fill in a big depression on the deck however. That seemed a bit too complicated.

My rule is new boards in the shop to be professionally done as they get old and banged up they get the backyard job.
