I snuck a super late surf in at the Point this evening.

four or five guys out, glassy lumpy with overhead sets. No stress, no drama save for the cumulus towers stacked seaward and the terns diving on nervous slimies. Feeding frenzies, water warm and blue, felt like being embraced by silk sheets.
I only caught three waves, didn't do much on any of them. Climb and drop, speed lines, glide from a to b. Kick out. Save for the last where I smashed the close-out near the hut and got pole axed into the sandbar.
Sometimes surfing feels so natural, so easy, so free.
The path was fringed by stinking cryptocarya, full of small white blossoms and a heavenly perfume.

mostly shitt but there are some absolutely insane ones to be found and somehow, the best of it has remained relatively underground. I mean wave machine perfect on these tradewind swells.

I found myself smokescreening my own mother when she asked me where I'd been surfing.

I'm not saying nuthin. Prob different from where you're thinking but this has been like stealing candy. If you time it right. Two surfs this morning head is burnt and only run over once. Had some good freefall on takeoff stacks and paddle backs from caught insides - first proper ones since shoulder debacle and seem to have come through unscathed but still slightly retarded.

Going to be a good February.

Pre dawn paddle out right next to some fishos. Maybe not a smart move but the waves were small, clean, fun and uncrowded. Went right for the first time in a year. Knee held up ok, not great but i know it's do able. Could have got bigger waves around the corner but it was packed, as I knew it would be, late yesterday arvo it was pretty damn good.

Paddled out at palmy but Kristen got instantly spooked by all the Jellys so went straight back in. Drove down to Caba and it was clean and sunny and 1ft. Had a grovel for a bit and then on my last wave in ate shit on top of some Jelly fish and got stung all over the inside of my thigh's could barely walk in or drive home!

Never had a sting from a jelly fish in my life and I've swum and body surfed with them all through my childhood and fallen off into the middle of schools of them when surfing more times than I like to remember.
Hate the feel of their tentacles though. Give me the creeps.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Swarms of them, but they don't really sting to badly, but they carry sea lice ( their larve) and it itches like a bunch of mossie bites. Like putting your hand on a slimy skull, but beautiful blue colour.

Sorry Davros but the whole sea lice thing is a nonsense.

They do sting and the "sea lice" are the disconnected nematocysts firing into your skin.

I'll take your word on that Steve, I just spent a week in the water with them and I just kept getting this itchy rash rather than any painful sting. Assumed from reading it was lice/larvae.

the sting is mild. For most people it just feels like an itchy rash.

hahaha no no no when you've really been stung it's anything but mild
I got nailed bad on my arm and on the 5 minute drive home I nearly had to pull over as the fiery pain was so bad.

Some people are more genetically sensitive to the stinging cells of the nematocysts.

They will have to quit surfing as the jellyfish continues it's rise and rise.
