Small beach breaks around low tide - better than it looked.

Went down for a bash about 1pm and who should I see getting ready for a surf in his steamer but former Realsurfer Nick Carroll. I was just about to yell out but the traffic started moving. Ended up parking right up the other end of the beach and couldn’t be arsed walking right down the other end to drop in on him. So went out for a very lacklustre surf in front of the Pavilion.

I know. 100% Nick. No question about it. I was a few feet away from him as I drove past. If I had found a park I would have fronted him.
I did see him there years ago. I was thinking he might have been there for Sculpture by the Sea. Isn’t his missus into visual art?
Surf definitely wasn’t worth it.

His article in the latest Surfing World says he’s enjoying surfing all over the joint and he’s mellow now and got rid of Nasty Nick.

:-D-: Yes, I would have congratulated him on being a quality surf Journo and not acting like a dork on here when he was a regular.

I read this 6 year old Nick Carroll short piece the other day. I liked it.

He wasn’t asking for a roofing contact.

“ If I had found a park I would have fronted him.”
Parking and Beanpole and avoiding Realsurf members seem to be fairly common themes.

Imagine poor old Nick if this weirdo shirtfronted him: "Hi. I'm Beanpole"

Funny story that I’ve never told. Some people might remember that years ago I ran into Nick in Indo whilst he was doing that stupid board review.
I saw Nick on the ASL boat and said hello. Nick then swam across to our boat to say hi and have a bit of a chat. I didn’t invite him onto our boat so Nick just hung off the transom waiting for an invite aboard. I just left him floating and I’ve always wondered whether I was a rude prick to NC. Think he paid me back by calling me a “largely competent surfer”.

Mate, you’ve been peddling that line for years. The quote from Nick Carroll outing you as a fatty is below. We all saw it, we all know you’re a disgusting fat fuck but we accept you for who you are.

Ha we pulled up to a little right hander and a nearby resort boat was there. There was a bit of surf info exchanged and I wasn't paying much attention, watching the spot instead, when one of my crew nudged me and said "hey that guy wants to talk to you." sure enough it was Jimmy! We briefly shared the lineup at a slowish sorta left a day later. He is a large competent goofy foot. Good to meet you Jimmy!
