Didn’t go left today.
But if it’s got a bit of push it will be a thruster anyway.
Got a nice backhand turn in on it yesterday as a thruster.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Actually where is surfing design right now.
Are mid lengths/long fishes curbing, back to the realms of old guys and kooks?
Are short wider nosed boards like the CI G-Skate the next trend (again)?
Longboards? Same as it ever was? But, I’d have to ask the Byron boys that question.
The surf industry seems to reinvent itself through board design very 6 months. Where to now?

Same here. Maybe it’s just winter.

I think in terms of HPS, shapers are looking to strike a balance and take the good aspects from the late 90s/early 2000s and modern improvements in foil and rocker distribution.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I see a lot of guys shred or at least have great surfs on long twins.
Probs not the best board for Sydney beachbreks.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Coolangatta is full of medium to long twins.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
I was trying all sorts of fin setups on my pin tailed/wide nose 7', 7'6 and 8'6 Aloha fun boards (lol) , I was not satisfied with any of them (thruster, single, 2+1). As a last resort I tried a pair of keels... they did just exactly what I wanted then to do, that is go fast, pump and turn.

A mid length twin is probably the single worse board ever for Sydney beach breaks, doesn’t stop people trying them thoughsteve shearer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 1:30 pmI see a lot of guys shred or at least have great surfs on long twins.

Shortboard thruster with a little less rocker and beefier rail is ideal, beachies are pretty wonky here most the time.

Yeh was thinking Occ’s Rusty in particular.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Interesting take there. MR had a few boards in the early 2000 that were like this, rocket fish and others. Makes sense what you say though. Issue is when you get in your 60’s and you can’t ride a 6’4 anymore. But, most aren’t pocket surfing at that age.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Back in the 70s and 80s I got some great boards that worked down south but not on the North Coast and SE Qland and visaversa.
Extra volume wasn’t appropriate for long hollow waves but great for scratching into big open ocean peaks.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Really fun waves today in very warm sunshine.
Surfed in boardies, bare back and it felt great.
Ran the board straight twinny again. So stoked with how this board is going. Fast, forgiving, easy to paddle and catch waves and super quick response in transition.
