And the photo I’m guessing was taken earlier today …
The southerly kicked in at around 7:30-8:00 am this morning.
Swell is coming … along with the Christmas Kookathon.
There are some reasonable banks elsewhere on the coast … away from the maddening crowd.
Ah … salivating semi-secret salvation.

Trev, that pic looks more like a case of "when am I?"!
My guess is southern Tassie, or somewhere between Newcastle and Coffs. Bet I am miles off.

TrevG - I think we need to know if that's Basalt, Dolorite or Sandstone the lighting and photo vintage make it a bit tricky to make out
Re: where am i on aussie coast ?
Looks a bit like the rocks between Bondi and Macca's.
Re: where am i on aussie coast ?
Is it a maxed out Little Av ?

Looks like the same view you get when standing to the right of the old wall up at North Head. I don't know what the wall is called but anyone who has walked around up there knows what I mean. It's a bit further south than Deadmans
The wave at Curl Curl is so good they had to name it twice

It's generic Hawkesbury sandstone and generic east coast heathland (banksia) scrub.

I'd say volcanic, or Brisbane metamorphic.
Pandanus palm is a bit of a giveaway.
Looks like cyclonic swell on the Sunny Coast....outer edge of Noosa; Hells gates?

Thank you puurri.puurri wrote:It's generic Hawkesbury sandstone and generic east coast heathland (banksia) scrub.
I look at a picture like that and think 'that describes just about every bit of coastline I know from Bega to, well somewhere north coast NSW."
Not a distinguishing feature in it for me.

Re: where am i on aussie coast ?
OK. YOu've all done very well, but no cigar. Although the Newcastle - Coffs option got close.
Hint. This pic was taken the same day (1968) about 50 meters inland. Sorry about the quality. They are digital photos of slides.
This one should give it away.
ps. In the new Realsurf format about 20% of the pic has been cut off the RHS or you would have been able to see the surf in the top RH corner.

Thanks Wanto, didn't know it had a name (probably didn't then) but that fits.wanto wrote:spookies-angas.
We used to go out there on 9' + boards with no leg ropes - not when it was that big though.
That morning (midweek) I surfed the point overhead and alone for nearly 2 hours. It was the third or fourth day of my honeymoon.
