I feel your pain...
The only times I've ever 'hurt' myself in the surf have been whilst surfing AVERAGE beachies: Fin chop on my knee surfing a mini-mal in onshore pus (5 stitches) and 'popped' ligaments in my right foot (crutches for a month) which still hurt when i kick a footy around a year later.
To top it all off; it happened at the same exact beach, pretty much on the same bank...

Haha, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!!!marcus_h wrote:Serves ya right for surfing a bloody mini mal!
*Btw Marcus, you know the spot where these incidents took place. Otherside of the Caravan park from where we surfed with Prid that cold arvo in August. The stitches incident was my first ever surf on the Sunny Coast too!!

I feel your pain dingo, I managed the same stunt a couple of years ago, interestingly enough, also in crap surf.
Somehow the board turned itself sideways when I flicked off and the the rail jumped up between my legs and I slid along it. As I did the board turned more upside down, and I slid all the way back to the side fin - which stopped the board dead on my left nut. Fin chop went through the wetty and gave me a nasty cut in the ol' sack, but luckily the boys escaped unscathed. I even took photos so I could send it in to a surf mag and get free stuff.
