Yeh yeah. Don't worry, I'm not expecting much support in my calling sushi a FAD.Rockin' Ron wrote:good sushi is glorious, bad sushi is a mass produced fast track to salmonella. Good sushi has the rice well vinegared and not packed too tight - should look as it is made by hand and have a generous slice of whatever fish. ?
Well vinegared, lots of soy, fresh seaweed and fish, so you end up with something that swims around in salt water, wrapped in rice that's been cooked in salty water, wrapped around with a seaweed sheet which having been grown in the deep blue sea, FMD, tastes like salt, which then has vinegar and soy sauce gently dribbled over it to give a bit of a salty flavour, just in case any flavour other than salt gets through.
One man's "pure gourmand's delight" is another man's plate of salt.
No doubt the good stuff is just grand RR, but I only have one friend who works in Macquarie and he won't take me to the exclusive fresh sushi bars. Can't get his SUP through the front door.
Now a potato that's been turned into a diamond, with a little salt added, could be a real delicacy.
