Interesting question NC, one observation I have is that the guys who were really good at dropknee ended up on a stick after a while, Teddy and another bloke Teal spring to mind, both of em good lidders and now great surfers. I havent seen Ted in a while but seem to be spending to much time in his fruit shop, will havta drop in when I'm up next weekend!
who do people kneeboard?
why do people bodysurf?
Why do people SUP?
why do people ride mals?
why do people goat boat?
why do people make gay posts about shit like this?
Just because someone doesn't do what you do, doesn't mean its not an enjoyable way of wave riding. I'm so sick of fuckwits who think because they stand up they're gods, you're not the fucking messiah and know 'whats best', get the fuck over yourselves. I bodyboard, I drop knee, I stand up, hey I've even ridden a goat boat a few times! WHY????? BECAUSE I FUCKING LIKE IT!

Look.
I want to know why it is that bodyboarders drop-knee.
If you would like, in return I will tell you why it is that stand up hard board riders "pig-dog" backside barrels.
But until somebody actually explains to me the technical advantages of drop-kneeing, I am gonna continue to assume it's just an almost insanely feeble attempt to ... well, I dunno. WHAT?
Climb out of your prejudices and tell me.

I'm interested in the answer to this too. For some reason I prefer to watch a competent drop kneeer than the standard lay downer, but I can't articulate why, something to do with the positioning on turns, reminds me of a kneeboarder maybe. That is exactly the problem with bodyboarders in general here, lack of articulation.
