Had a few beers with Tomtom on Friday night and apart from being a part time lid he's not a bad bloke, him and his missus are good people, nikce to see see some normal types down here outside of the lycra wearing latte sipping trendsetters that infest the area of a weekend. Actually thats only during the day, at night it more of a stovepipe jeans, golf punk tshirt, some sort of button up vest wearing pseudo male emo poof type getting around or a wannabe 3rd grade Carlton afl player.

Re: Melbourne is killing my surfing passion but
Been a while since I have posted in here, been too busy with life I spose. Been surfing all the time lately which has been good but the car has been racking up the kms cause of it though. Still going to the gym but have dropped out of the size game a bit, was around 110kgs but back down to 103 now and my surfing has gone through the roof because of it. No longer trying tio get back to where I was and instead seem to be improving again.
That seems to be the biggest speed bump when your not surfing much. It's just frustrating and annoying when your just trying to get back to where you were, thankfully thats not the case anymore. Caught up with mates I knew down here from a while a back and going surfing with mates also helps. Yesterday the surf was insane, not going to say where but I took a couple of hurried pics when I was checking it, should give you an idea of what it was like.
There isn't a channel of any description, just a case of paddle as hard as you can and try and hold your position until the sets stop. Got a few sick barrels and some beatings as well but they just heop you appreciate the good ones.

Re: Melbourne is killing my surfing passion but
I ride my bike to work in the Melb CBD most days & I'm sick of the cocksuckers/couriers on bikes who run red lights, the iPod wearing pedestrians who think everyone should stop for them (hit 3 of them on my bike by the way), foreign taxi drivers who have yet to learn what blinkers are for & who I'm sure get their licenses out of Weeties boxes & sick of all the office chain smoking harpies who use the footpath to congregate & poison anyone passes!
If I didn't have surfing I don't know where I'd be now...

Elwood bretheren.........
Used to live on G/H road, until 6 months ago.
Elwood, the best bits:
The amount of HOT CHICKS EVERYWHERE !!!
Shaggy's pizza (lamb and spinach+yoghurt pizza, also their polo pasta is awesome)
The malaysian restaraunt on glenhuntly road (near maccas) is sooo cheap !!
The canal that runs down to bay road, nice place for a picnic....
King of Tonga......nice topless oil paintings!!
Cheap beers and cleanskins at the BWS drive through
The eggs benedict at the turtle
A $7 turkish pide, with fried egg and bacon and coffee at the bakery by the roundabout.
Sunsets at the hill by G/H beacon
The crazy white afro haired woman that power walks the bay every evening, talking to herself
Minx, foxes and beaver EVERYWHERE !!! (drool.......)
but hey........now 13th beach is on my doorstep - much better !!!

I live just off GH Rd on one of the surf theme named streets between the roundabout and Elwood village. I dunno about the hot chicks, there's a few alright ones around but coming from Newport Avalon area it's not the same.Squidlips wrote:Elwood bretheren.........

Yeah the asian/Thai joint is good, go there all the time, was there last night actually. Have a few beverages at the collective every now and again, like the quiches from the bakery but waiting on service in that joint is not fun, they are hopeless. Turtle got burnt a while back and hasn't reopened since although it's not far off apparently.
13t isn't too bad but I prefer the island to be honest.
