I've had both ears done :? The right one was done nearly 2 years ago and still is a sensitive thing. Cold water and wind and the earache begins, drives me mad but at least the hearing came back and it is alot better than it was.

it sure can be a worry down in vic

i had a free ear check from a place i was working about 15 months ago, and the guy said i was already starting to develop it very small in my left ear, not really a problem yet, but at the time i was only 23, so it would only get worse! havent had it checked lately, but i had a few surfs in 6 degree water in febraury so that wouldnt have helped!

^^^

I haven't had my ears checked yet either. Pretty sure the right is not as good as the left anymore so maybe I should.

I seem to remember a thread about surf muffs (love that name) for ears a while ago.

Anyone persuaded and try them ?

Besides looking like a dork, do they work ?

[quote
I still wear my steamer in summer, mainly because of sunburn.

Still wear the booties at some breaks as I hate walking over all the rocks :?
Dont you get hot in summer in a steamer? If the water is 20 degrees or more i fry in a steamer, especially with the sun beating down. A good long sleeve rashie and a bit of suncream does the job. Havnt been burnt to the point of peeling for even any pain for years.

I dont think the cold has been too bad here in Sydney this winter, except for the feet after a surf, especially the early. Walking on smooth concrete is fuc%ing agony after the early.

Nah not really. The water down here never gets warm enough to really make surfing in a steamer uncomfortable at any time of the year. At least that's what I've found

Most surfers in Vic will wear steamers all year round, a 3x2 is usually the go, although there are months like right now where I wouldn't say no to a 4x3 if I had that much $$$ to throw around.

Surfed for a cupla hours not far from Bells in fun 3 foot reef runners. Crowd peaked at 3 with me on my own for 1 hour :D

Crew were rocking up as I was leaving with the sun starting to beat down about 9am..........
Whoa mate - I'm in awe of that. It's 16 degree water and about 10 degree air mornings in Sydney and I'm suffering! Great if you can do it.

Planning on getting out for the early this Sunday, most likely 7am around Flinders.

My nuts should be ice-cubes by 7.05am

Tim whatsisname on the 10 weather report just said that local beaches (Sydney) are 15. something at the moment. Wouldn't be surprised. Still, like others, the pain thins out the crowd nicely.
