Rip Curl Search- Bali?

Post by Quangers » Fri Jul 18, 2008 10:34 am

Did anyone else hear one of the commentators on last night's J-Bay mention that the next event is in Bali?

No but the Search T-shirts on sale in Rip Curl stores has an umistakable Bali mask featured on it...I'm hoping G-land.

I reckon padang's in a non starter - unless the phantom fishing ship is a carefully disguised judging tower :)

No its not Bali.

Try an epic left hander on another island not far from Bali.

Won't say anymore than that other than Im pissed off its going to be there coz i was planning a trip there myself at the same time but have canned it.

The guys on the tour know where it is coz a couple of em stopped there before j Bay.

i think its at padang, a few of the locals seemed to think so.
after the ripcurl cup.
it would save ripcurl money, having half the infastructure set up from the ripcrul cup

G-Land. It was so uncrowded this year when i was there, it could be considered a 'search'.

dino andino let it fly about 15 times in the commentary last night that its definitely in indo... at least the goofy footers wont have an excuse to dribble on and whinge about having no chance of winning, as they did at j-bay...no wonder slater flogs em so bad, half theses neck scarffwearing metro c.t dudes mind f..k themselves out of results. i never ever heard occ or tom carroll compete there with that attitude....

... unless you take consistency out of the equation.

nah got it good for 3 days with a total of probably 40 surfers at the camps. most of the time you'd be surfing with less than 10 people on the whole reef. i surfed one day, admittedly not the best waves (rippy 4-5 foot low tide moneys) for about 3 hours completely alone. that was until the evening glass-off, which i also surfed (way better, pumping actually) with about 6 other guys.

.... i was saying that G-Land is what it is because of it's consistency. it's 'good' about 80-90% of the time. it's 'excellet' maybe 30-40% of the time. compare than to other lefts which you'd maybe call better waves, nokandui for example, which is probably 'good' 15% of the time, and excellent 10% of the time.

I heard that the search event was going to be at Ulu's.

Maybe I heard wrong but it would be logistically easier to hold it at Ulu's than G-land.

the comp is on at Ulu's with Padang if the swell gets big.
fark Wanto i was in G-land late may and was surfing Money's with 50 blokes out. half of them were brasil nuts. Got some great waves but it was a shit fight.

ye i heard it was at ulu's aswell.
apparently the finalists from the rip curl cup go in as trailists for the ct event.
pretty sh!t excuse for a search

Same . . . I heard Ulu's. So much for a "search". I guess after the WA and NZ issues they're SEARCHing for someone that wants it.
