Also registered my interest to have a go...

I suspected i might be too big a man for it...

I think i can manage those dimensions...

I might have to remove those FCS stickers though... 8)

i am currently waiting for 'Beerfan' to get back to me so i can pass it on to him
anyone in the Gong is welcome to contact me and take the board or have a go

i have a couple more sequence shots to post but did not want to saturate the thread with shots of the Fan wiggling around and about.

the best ones are up there to peruse.

will post the wipeout shots later

bat fat fun

Post by Faniel » Thu Dec 04, 2008 12:52 am

I have to add,

that it was so much fun to grab a bloke with a camera with a big lense,
and travel >30mins to a spot you know is gonna be good,
and set it all up for a photo session!

i have never had so many shots of myself, and all in an hour and a half!
and the first part i was surfing great waves out of his field of view not to be recorded.

So for anyone out there having the Bat next,

try and find the best guy in your area that takes surfing photos/videos,
just approach them, they will be keen as when they hear the story.

or next bet get a ordinary professional and pay him something
(you might get some unique angles) and wait till its gonna be good.
and you will not only get some fantastic shots for the AquaBat experiment
but may also get that timeless shot of yourself you always wanted.

its great fun :D

had a beer with 'BeerFan' tonight and ceremoniously handed over the AquaBat to him for a few days,
if no-one else puts their hand up i will take it back while he recuperates from his elbow op.

would like to take it right down the coast for a day trip and pass it on to some one down there.

but surely there is More surfers on the 'Coal Coast' that would like a go.

i will put the feelers out locally again and see if anyone keen.

After seeing those photos, i'm really spewing i didn't have the time to come down the coast for the sunday.
Glad you caught some waves, and more importantly, some decent pics.

Took the bat out in waist high clean hollow port kembla waves this morning. Pretty small waves really, but it went good. Paddled great for an 85kg ( ok maybe im a little heavier now!! ) bloke. Caught the small hollow waves great. Took a few waves to get the feet right, but i was easliy able to "flick" the board around, easy to whip up to the lip, mostly on my backhand. Front side, only got a few, but one nice one i was able to get almost vert on it before it closed out.

Pretty happy with it so far, and im hoping for a bit more size to get a better feel for it.

I used my set of fcs PC7 quad fins.

I would just like to say thanks to Faniel. Your enthusiasm and involvement with the project has been unreal. The effort you put in getting the photos and posting so many has made great viewing...Thanks alot. and to hear that you and Beerfan had a beer or 2 when you handed over the AquaBat nearly brought a tear to my eye  , well not quite but thats the stuff I really hoped would happen thru-out this project, great stuff...And stoked to hear Beerfan is having fun on it too and trying his own set of quads...
We do not have our next test pilot from down that way so Faniel ,you might as well grab it for a few MORE surfs if you want to but if theres anyone else in that area who is keen, please let me know....
Hatchman is in Vicco but no surfers in between there an the Gong at this stage but do have a few keen crew from Rye... 8) :)

F@#k have to repeat my reply b/c i left it toolong to submit.
dont you hate it when you have to repeat your self again,
b/c its never as good as the first time.

Anyhoo, what am i saying?

yeah, just lucky i guess. managed to get someome to take a few fotos and it turned out ok.
just the same as whats been going on the whole time the Bats been travelling the east coast,
this time the planets aligned and someone was able to show some visual evidence of the fun being had.

my first post was sooo much better than that.
night all

C'mon guys, if you know anyone from the Gong to Vicco, can you see if they are keen on having a go on the AquaBat ??? otherwise we might have to skip such a big and great piece of coastline and I dont wanna do that, maybe just drop ya mates in that area a call or e-mail to see if they are keen, we must have some RealSurfers in that stretch of coast ??? 8)
or is anybody heading that way for a surf trip or family holiday over Xmas..??? or heading overseas soon, please PM me if heading anywhere soon.... 8)
