Juan Fernandez islands...
Hi there!
It seems that most of the time when I get online and make some sort of entry into these forums it is to request information, and rarely do I make a contribution to help answer others questions...
However: I am currently hanging out in Santiago, Chile, and in a few dayts will be setting sail for the Juan Fernandez island group, which is located not too far (about 650km) off the coast of Chile. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Fern% ... ez_Islands if you have never heard of them, they look amazing... I was wondering if there is any surf on the islands... It would definately cop swell, and looks from maps like there would be some points that could work. Does anyone know anything about the group?

Read the book 'Selkirks Island' before you go. It will give you an idea of the history of the island and is quite a decent insight into what life was like there before people settled.
Cast Away with Tom Hanks is an adaptation of this true story. The first English novel 'The adventures of Robinson Crusoe' was based on it too.

looks pretty desolate out there, perhaps a bit too volcanicly young to have any real perfection... this looks like its got potential...

Hola,
Como estas?
I'd imagine it cops a bit. I've been to Isla de Pascua and while I didn't surf while there (it was the last stop on my backpacking trip around South America), there was definantly some awesome surf.
Stuck in Santiago. You poor thing. Probably least favourite place in South America. Although, why the hell are you not up at Valle Nevado or El Colorado, its been dumping up there.
