Steamer Sizing Question

Post by tootr » Sat May 10, 2008 6:43 pm

howsit,

Been wearing Rip Curl size large for the last 20 or so years, but having bought the E Bomb last year I have two (constructive!) criticisms - and no I don't weigh much more!@)

1 - the cut seems to have been made slimmer such that its super tight around shoulders/chest/arms, such that the benefits of the extra flex are somewhat negated

2 - It's not as warm, and a chilly SW wind goes straight thru it

So, the question is, before I get to the shop and work up a lather trying on half a dozen wetties and having to listen to the usual shit ignorant dribble from the sale blokes, what if any are the differences between cuts for the various brands and if so, which ones are for the broader built, non stringbean type bloke ??

TIA

Most comfortable and best wettie ive worn is the oneil psycho suits.
Im a small build, but a mate is pretty big and rates them too

my dad loves the oneill and hes not slim, not fat.
he hates rippy, too narrow for him.
hes like short and muscular, and he likes oneills and excels.

he is in excels.

Yep oneil psycho 2 - best fit I've had - I'm slim and wear a small. Wind chill I reckon is the biggest problem with all these super stretchy suits. Someone needs to come up with a hydrophobic coating

Just make sure its on the site and cheap before hand...

So much cheaper and can get a good sealed steamer for $150.

what the??? That site sells Billabong and RipCurl steamers for less than half the Australian retail price. Aren't Billabong and RipCurl Australian companies? So it is cheaper to buy an Australian product in the US?

This is how ridiculous the prices are in Australia

I have just ordered from the US of A, the fall 07 O'Neill Psycho 2 zen zip 3/2...... for wait for it........USD$260.00 works our to be AUD$274.00 plus PH which is around $35.00...AUD$309.00 in total

Most shops have them retailing for around the $579.99 mark

^^

I got the new E3-Bomb 4/3 from Rippy :D for free cause my other one fell a part a little  It's good that they honour their warranty 8) but not so good that the right hand back shoulder came away from the seam after only 1.5years and there were also 2 little holes, one under the knee pad and the other under my hammy :?

Interesting post toot. I have had RC medium talls for the last 15 years and thought i could just grab one off the shelf this time. I did try it on and it felt tight but the "ignorant bullshit salesrep" said it'll be ok when your in the water.

Well no sh*t, i felt like i was wearing a straight jacket with a g banger.

Couldn't surf in it. I took it back but the RC rep said they havn't changed the cut and i should've tried the suit on before i bought it (cnut)
The store i bought it from looked after me with a great price on an ONeil Psycho which is the best fitting wettie i have ever owned (and still Medium tall)
I ended up selling the RC wettie on the RealSurf Swap forum, still lost $50 on the whole deal.

Rip Curl should listen a bit closer to their market, it feels sh*t to get burned.
