Swellnet is a better site visually and has better photos ie swellnet sessions.

Coastal Watch is better at predicting the actual size of the swell and has more data. Finger on the pulse, so to speak.

I reckon an objective, quantitative long term analyis of predicted versus actual swell for the two sites would show that Swellnet's more accurate - without doubt.

Who do you think the contest organisers, big wave tow in crews (RCJ, Carrol etc) are more likely to rely on?

I'm with you on this Coops.

I generally look at both sites, but always check swellnet first. The reason? The page (with still image) loads quickly, and I'm not waiting for the video stream to start, that is if it actually loads at all....

do they test websites on browsers other than IE?

i prefer coast....the cams are easier too navigate

and if i bother...theres some interesting surf stuff to view :!:

swellnets great....i just really check both

bens developed more a , i dunno, local feel with his site, i find his reporters prehaps better and more knowledgable than coastals

but i pick coastal for forecasts :!:

i hope both sites can develop a friendly rivarily......win/win for us 8)

p.s unless of course u believe there forecasts are part the evil axis thats turning surfing into a wannbe hero shitfight :?

coastalwatch sh*ts me - its pitched at a readership level below the lowest common denominator. Its cams suck because they dont work easily with browsers. Most coastalwatch develpments are copies of Swellnet.

Swellnet is more rigorous in its assesment of swell events and that matters. Surfers who can read, understand and interpret the detail are in a better position to put it to use. And I just got a new Next G phone and I can get it on my phone too!

i reckon coastalwatches reports are always wrong!
so many times when there has been a "6 foot swell" predicted and its two foot.
not a fan of the forecasts. at all.
swellnet seem way more on the ball.
coastalwatch will often say the complete opposite to what the surf is like i find.

and their cameras always get stolen from NN

One is a leader - the other rip's off all the great ideas (WOTD/LOTD for starters!!!)

One is grassroots - the other is backed by mega bucks!!!

One BM gets it right - the other BM couldn't forecast a bowel movement!!!

One BM backs himself with experience and knowledge - the other BM is like the kid who always looked over his shoulder in the school exam for the answers!

One is used by alot of pro's all over the world - the other wished it had these guys in their corner!!!

swellnet? coastalwatch? nope, seabreeze is where it's at. once you're hooked, you'll never go back.
