I know this is a discussion topic on swellnet vs coastalwatch, but I still find it hard to believe NO ONE has even mentioned how good realsurf is and the fantastic work that Don (one of the nicest guys you will ever meet!) has put into it!
Shame on you all!!
Keep up the great work D

I'm sure Don's a nice guy and all but does anyone here actually use Realsurf for anything other than the forum? From a surf reporting and forecasting point of view, Realsurf is IMHO at best quaint. Can't remember the last time I stopped at the front page for anything.

This site (like most others) also uses the GFS models as input. The best thing I've found about MSW is the historic swell and wind data. I'm not sure where they've got the information from (and hence it's accuracy), but if you're planning a surf trip somewhere in the world and want to know whens the best time of year to go for swell and wind conditions, then this historic data is your best friend for sure.
