Probable NRL grand finalists?

Post by Colonel Fiction » Fri Jul 13, 2007 2:06 pm

As a Manly supporter I was surprised they were voted by the NRL players as the most over-rated team.

Jamie Lyon - maybe a bit over-rated, sure, but I don't get the Manly thing.

Anyway, got me thinking - we're two thirds of the way through the regular season, who do you think will make the GF? Let's say two probable grand finalists and two possible grand finalists.

Here's my predictions:

PROBABLES:
Melbourne
Brisbane

POSSIBLES:
Manly
North Queensland

Bulldogs dismantled Manly and they were playing average at best, I like Melbourne and the Tigers. Even though the dogs dominated these years i like 05,06,07 better then 02-04 as its not a two horse race. Every game can be won by either side.

Although im devo from there past performances, reflect on the weekend.

3rd sting halfback (kimmorley and dykes out), gallen and bird out on there feet, dominated a dogs outfit and made them look like the roosters. 65 - 70 mins the game was all sharks, just couldnt convert, and towards the end fatigue set in. I have trust in sticcy.

but then again theres the complete other side of the coin.

As would i love to see sharks v manly cs, would be one of the greatest or worse nights of my life. Sharks only play manly once this year aswell  so bragging rights cannot be won back.

Me too.

Friday 20 July at Shark Park will be interesting. I'm trying to get to that game. Mate and former Manly resident lives down that way now, trying to hook up with him.

This game should have more hype around it every year. Battle of the Beaches. There's plenty of history with the 2 GFs. NRL marketers are rank amateurs.

this is a subject very close to my heart... being a manly supporter in townsville...

the cowboys are easily the most over rated team in the competition... everyone raves about them, but take away johnathan "fight club" thurston and the whole team is neutered, even matt bowen. Its a bit like the way newcastle used to be without joey. It distresses me greatly when people rave on about them endlessly when they have one of the poorest defences in the league and rely on two players to score their points. They are weak as piss and will drop out of the 8 come finals time particularly if johnathan "STI" thurston is injured! also their supporters are redneck wankers! I dont think there is another team in the competition which feeds propaganda to the masses like the cowboys. The locals drink it up like they drink XXXX. The players are like demi gods when they go to town and act like complete tossers... noone gives a farg anywhere else, but for some reason everyone wants to be johnathan "i love myself" thurston, carl "fat man" webb and matt "hes my cousin bro" bowens best friends... its a shit fight up there i tell you what, i struggle to deal with it!

finalists: storm vs broncos

possibles: manly and bulldogs

roughy: parramatta

didnt realise they were playing the sharks next friday, should be a cracker...
Spot on about the marketing of the game Colonel F, although isnt there a steve rogers trophy or something for the winner??

I wanna get a copy of the 2 GFs v the sharks, mostly for the brawl-a-thon, I wasnt around then, but my old man raves about it...
(my Pop was Manlys trainer then)

My guess - some bunch of overpaid, drinkdriving, drug dealing, roid munching, misogynistic rapists who struggle to spell their names correctly vs some bunch of overpaid, drinkdriving, drug dealing, roid munching, misogynistic rapists who struggle to spell their names correctly.

in my mind melbourne are king of the roost, but in saying that finals footy is a different kettle of fish, hence why manly will be knocked out straight away because they are a bunch of soft cocks.
yes jason ryles suscks why do u think the dragons have been killing it recently, and they are a definate contender for the semis i dont know about any furthere but they need a match winner, a spark such as mundine . but lets not go there. gold coast are shit btw.

probables: melbourne, cowboys, brisbane, sharks

maybes: warriors, dragons, tigers, dogs (name says it all, a bunch of softcock dogs especially willie)

no hopers: penrith, manly, parra,
