Worst Autumn Ever!!

Post by 2nd Reef » Mon Apr 09, 2007 9:07 pm

Was goin' through some old SMH stories and came across this:

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2006/04/ ... 63293.html

Brings back lovely memories doesn't it? Remember last autumn when we had 10' swells back to back to back to....Cyclone Wati. The Hammerheads sessions. Towing at Clovelly, Coogee and Queeny. Mega Voodoo. Non stop photos from Maxi, Butts and Bookster, and coverage in all the mainstream media. God, it was all happening!!

But what now?

One pissant 6' swell, and a fuggen persistent high pressure system that just wont bloody budge. So, realising autumn isn't over yet, but understanding the importance of an overblown headline I'm calling this the WORST AUTUMN EVER!

Were we too spoiled last year and Huey is balancing the ledger?

Are they getting our waves up the north coast and down the south?

Do Bastardos & NC have anything to do with it?

Lets not waste time with with 'well thought out' scientific responses. What we want is immediately satisfying, and emotionaly charged, action. If someone has to burn at the stake then so be it.

Stu.... I reckon you aren't far off with your call. It has been pedestrian, to say the least- but autumn isn't over yet.

I'd like to think that the timing of the current run of crap surf fits in rather well with my current parenting responsibilities....

But at least its raining!!
(OK so i cant help but be a glass half full sort of guy!)
While I would like to claim some sort of influence with Huey, somehow 25 years of surfing has proven huey's disregard for my surfing wishes.

It would be interesting to see how the breakdown of the El Nino and the return to non-drought (I cant say normal anymore) conditions influences our wave climate. Any comparison with Autum 2006 is always going to look crap as it was definitely a vintage year!! I suspect while we may have few totally flat days, we might end up with more of the dreaded SE winds.
having said that - this morning looked pretty bloody nice as I slogged through my physio prescribed run - less than a month to go and i am out there!

As I type this, the 'Bells' contest is bunking down at Johanna cause for the 4th day in a row, it's about 2 foot around here. Gotta start pumping soon :?: :?: :?:

I can't keep drinking at this pace for the rest of the year..............
Second that over on the Mornington Peninsula as well. There has been some good days for sure but none on the weekends which is the only time I can get out for a surf :?

I think I'll get started on some paving in the backyard, I was gonna put it off to spend most weekends in autumn and winter surfing but at this rate it's not worth it.

Surfing cr-p waves improves your surfing. It's not as fun as surfing the good sh-t but when the good sh-t comes you'll rip. F-ck i think Autumn has brought on my Tourrette's.

2 cents worth anyway.

P.S ffffff f-ck kk ing gnnnn going surfing now.
