I'm with Steve.
Zinc on top scatters or shields, anything that gets through is diffuse and easily accounted for by the chemical components
Though if you're using broad spectrums with zinc or titanium oxides in them already it won't make much difference.
Pretty hard to spread zinc all over your legs, Legion.
Though my surf buddy has a PhD in chemistry and can't draw some of the 2-butyl-methoxydibenzoylmethanes

the zinc is a physical barrier. It goes on top.
I'd really like roy's take on this
Actually I've been thinking the same and waiting for Roy to chime into the discussion too.

I'm with Steve on this one. A bit worried about nano particles with invisible zinc however. I use Tan Zinc as a top layer. It also has calamine lotion in it.steve shearer wrote:the sunscreen is a chemical barrier. it needs to bond with the skin.

White Zinc makes your teeth look yellow.
Kind of think putting on the face paint is like getting to perform.......as a rodeo clown usually

Yes definitely more looking like one than doing one on my part.Legion wrote:Wish I could do a rodeo clown.
I think some tan zinc has lanolin in it as well. Smells like it anyway.
Nick what's your take on ear plugs?

Re: Ask Carroll
So Nick were you part of Tajs support team or just having a hang with Maurice?

Re: Ask Carroll
Well I was having a hang but also listening to what people were saying nearby, particularly Johnny Gannon, Tajs coach. A lot of journalism is just about putting yourself in the right place and waiting.

That was just the commentary description of the motley looking crew.
A bit underwhelming for the final?
Do you think Taj is surfing better off the fire wires?

Hi Nick,
Do you reckon Julian's dummy spit in his semi with MF was justified? I was watching online so couldn't hear the beach commentary did they fcuk it up royally enough to make a difference in the outcome of the heat?
Cheers

Re TB well he won Bells on a FireWire. I think he's ripping but the boards aren't everything in that equation.
Legion I think your q re Johnny Gannon is a bit weird in the context, Taj is not some naive random in a Fitness First gym, he's a million dollar a year pro athlete, he's clearly happy with the results and wouldn't employ someone if it was otherwise. There is a shitload about that relationship that you wouldn't have seen on YouTube and it covers a lot more ground than a few calisthenics. The whole coach thing is definitely growing in pro surfing and I suspect the TB/JG act is a bit of a template for some of the others.
