it's amazing all the facebook-mong-surfers propelled by their own fear who are writing wherever they can on horrible mainstream media pages – ie sunrise, today show etc – how if you don't surf or aren't in the ocean everyday, you're not entitled to say "don't cull sharks" ...

what if you do basically live in the ocean, and even take your children in it daily, and still don't want to cull sharks. what then?

boo. is there any reason to think a major driver to the shark problem is humans have globally fcuked the ocean by pollution and over-fishing, and this has changed a lot of sharks diet and migratory/ feeding patterns? ie bringing them in closer to shore.

i read a lot about the over fishing & polluting theories changing sharks diets, and to my fairly limited educational senses, it seems to make most sense.

yeah, i couldn't find any info on the theory, thought you might know more. it sounds like it's simplifying a possible hugely complex matter. i was just thinking, based on that harvard research paper, if shark (GWS) numbers aren't drastically increasing like first thought (and often rumoured).

... if they're not increasing but fishos are seeing them more often, the theory is they have to be coming closer to shore. and the they're driven by hunger or to mate for everything they ever do.
