Often enough that to say never is ignorant
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Cronulla point. 2-3 foot. Inconsistent but still a few ok ones coming through. Loofy will be happy to know that I christened his bonzer with its first official tube. Well, more of a 2 second head dip through first reef, but christened nevertheless

Whatever. I surfed solid 20' surf in Sydney last year. 15-18' surf the year before. You hunt the first six hours of a superlative swell and there it is. Best bet is a mega south swell with a long interval at the German or a few other spots. It's a shitty five years when you don't get that.Beanpole wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2017 9:43 pmRe: South Coogee....I've seen some of the biggest waves I've seen in Sydney breaking on that outer reef. I've seen people surfing it at that size. I've seen footage of Queenscliff Bombie that probably looks to be 18ft faces but I haven't seen it that big myself. I'm sure WA and Victoria gets bigger but NSW?
How often would that happen?
Re elsewhere in Oz, there's 30' days pretty much every year at Cow etc, western Vic and sth Oz. That's been clearly shown by the BWA entries since 2002 if nothing else. To say nothing of Tas.
Again - it don't matter if you didn't see it.

Do you tow in to big waves much Nick or more of a paddler?

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Today was a repeat of yesterday.
Out in the water by myself at dawn for an hour before a handful of other surfers arrived. Glassy conditions, 10 wave sets, step laddering from head and a half to double, sometimes more. 20 minute wait between sets. Low tide just about all day.
Westerly swell so pretty well unmakeable though.
Ulus had 90 surfers on racetrack yesterday when I looked.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Three days straight of surf.
Wednesday at Snapper (scratchy after the wind came up), then yesterday and today at my local.
Shame the northerlies are due tomorrow.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Manly mid morning on low tide = mostly close outs (better surf there earlier in the week)

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Very true. I will take your word for it, Nick......anything else is sceptical. As I have said before I question most calls re: wave size....and I guess I undercall waves by my own standard a lot. That's why I find the tiny wave callers suddenly seem to up the size calls once it's overhead. Purely pedestrian for me these days of course.Nick Carroll wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2017 2:25 pmWhatever.
