Sydney urbn surf an hour from me, will prob wait for a shit run of swell and book a double session, at $200 ish that will probably be enough for me.

My son has a couple sessions locked in through his boardriders.
Opens in a couple of weeks.

Here’s a sneak preview of it via Kale B

He reckons it’s bowlier than Melbs.

Channels, will you risk damaging the inclusion Bonzer on the unforgiving concrete walls of the tub or perhaps an inadvertent collision with a helmeted member of the general public sharing a session with you?

Helmets are free and encouraged- will you wear one?

Got to 11 minutes through that Kale vid and bailed. Excruciating.
Not only are the waves insipid, he narrates it like Catriona Rowntree on Getaway.

Check out this YouTube vid he posted. Surfing in Adelaide.
Not only is there no surf in Adelaide, so it’s not Adelaide, but the surf and vid are so lame it wasn’t worth the few seconds it would have taken to post it.

that's a hard no. I'll just use a regular thruster I have lying around.

Not that I plan on going but on anything less than barrels mode, a helmet isn't necessary. On advanced mode, the barrel section in Melbourne is tricky on the forehand and bloody hard on your backhand (disclaimer, I'm a kook). I wore a helmet on the left barrels and slammed really hard into the bottom a few times.

The other thing that annoyed me in the Melbourne tub was the amount of people that could barely surf that were let into immediate or above. A wipeout doesn't push you out of the impact zone so any kook that blew the takeoff was literally in your take off line.

That’s what happened to a friend of mine. Went to take off and someone had eaten it on the take off. He tried to miss them and got pushed into the wall and dragged down the pool.

Take your heaviest board and take out the trash.
Kook eugenics.
How dare they surf intermediate and advanced sessions.
They should stick to getting in the way at Winki.

No sense of kook entitlement like the entitlement that comes with a paying customer getting what they paid for.

My absolute worst type of wave is one with a tight small take off area where situations like this are more or less geared into the experience.

I don't think the Sydney one will have anywhere near the success of the Melbourne one in terms of customer numbers.

It just doesn't have the customer base like Melbourne that doesn't have easy access to the ocean, or an airport close by for supporting those who are travelling to/from Melbourne.

Add in cost of living pressures and I can't see it being packed out.

For me to take myself and my son for 2 sessions each, $450. Fuck that.

However I reckon there are still plenty of punters to make it work.

if I get there and they call the race off (they will) this race organiser is going to be on the end of a dummy spit like he has not imagined in his worst nightmare.

Yes, and I will thank you Leej, and everyone else here for providing that safe space for me to have my rant.

Amazing how cathartic letting off some steam can be!
