Sounds too much like a place for old people to come for voluntary assisted dying.

If it’s anything like Digger’s rest, I’d avoid it at all costs.

Think that used to be the first night stop on the way to the Ballarat goldfields. Now a satellite estate of crappy houses just outside Melbourne.

You could give the development a soaring sea bird motif and call it Shearer’s Shag.

Probably one of the few things that'd pay better than property development.

Shag rock is in front of the suicide cliff too.

Shearer’s Blowjob would be more historically accurate

This part reminds me of John Batman swindling the locals out of Melbourne's land.
In his head, he probably thought he did the right thing too.
Indigenous and settler lives are intertwined here more than in many other Australian surf zones, something any surfer will feel at times. Maybe that’s why Pagey’s words felt like permission; he’s a Dunghutti man, which means he is on country here.
That was pretty bad before it was established as a marketing ploy.
Root me boot.

It’s gotta sting if you’re steve. You finally - finally - get admitted to what you see as the inner sanctum after years of patiently tapping on the door. You get your chance to write a handful of surfboard puff pieces; you feel the thrill of the baksheesh that makes the corporate surfing world go round. You marvel at the simplicity of a system where you write something complimentary and next thing you have a free board. You think that finally - finally - you’ve made it as a Surf Journalist and then Carroll goes and that’s-not-a-knifes you. AGAIN
What?

Mate, I'd rather mow lawns than be a second rate puff piece merchant at retirement age for a bunch of adult learner venture capitalists in Fresno.

Whenever I feel gloomy I can think about that and immediately I'm on top of the world.

I actually feel sad for Nick- he sees himself in bigger terms than writing advertorial for the real estate industry.
Mate I am dead set in shock. Finding it hard to believe he has sunken to this. Its fucking low.

The worst bit is……it’s highly unlikely that either of them would dream of surfing there themselves. There’s a number of longboarders with cred who wouldn’t pull a stunt like this but at least would be prepared to live with the consequences.

The poor old GSTK has finally shown its jealousy ... trapped in a quagmire of dampness and destitution, it lashes out at anyone and anything that it perceives to be in a better situation than itself ... which is almost everyone on the planet.

Fucking Hell. Still no estate planning that considers geographical aspect. Ancient civilisations were way smarter than modern architecture, developers and workaday/retiree purchasers

As for NC, given his old RS posts about how well he'd set up for retirement, it's quite staggering. And then, what might drive him to do it? Perhaps something going on that we will never be aware of. Desperate measures for desperate times?
Still fairly open to critique though

I just paid a deposit on one of the packages. I went for the “Lil’ Bro.”
The house is OK and the land is shit but I get a lifetime premium membership to Surfline and Nick will give me 3 months of surf tuition.
Plus I’m guaranteed that TC will drive up for every swell and paddle me in to whichever set wave I want.

Fine print actually says TC drops in on you on any half decent looking wave you’ve waited patiently for.
