First back to shark park today, no one died, it was ok for a little while and then surfed at around the carpark at curly and its was fun.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
I will be passing through Byron Bay mid-next week and have a soft spot for The Pass where I can sneak in a 2 hour session. Are the crowds still as bad as they have been for the last 20+ years or has shark paranoia thinned out the lineup?

Lefts up the top end of mona vale. Bagged a few. Some ok ones. But overall too much current and backwash from the swell being too south

Were you one of the 2 guys surfing off the northern headland? It's a little creepy out there a long way from help.Hatchnam wrote:Lefts up the top end of mona vale. Bagged a few. Some ok ones. But overall too much current and backwash from the swell being too south
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Where do you mean? Are you talking the far northern tip before Bungan ?
If so, no. I surfed the left that runs off the south groin of bongin bongin bay. Where the pool and surf club is etc.
There was about eight or ten out. Pretty inconsistent. Ok when they came thru though.

Is this an entry in TOTY?chrisb wrote:I will be passing through Byron Bay mid-next week and have a soft spot for The Pass where I can sneak in a 2 hour session. Are the crowds still as bad as they have been for the last 20+ years or has shark paranoia thinned out the lineup?

Yes, the northern tip before Bungan. Just two out yesterday getting OK rides but a long way from help. Never very crowded out there .....for good reason.Hatchnam wrote:Where do you mean? Are you talking the far northern tip before Bungan ?

TOTY winner? No way, the competition is too fierce.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Thanks for the tip off. Will check that spot next time now I know it's workable
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Possibly the straightest sand bank on earth at Dee Why.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
It's been like that for months. I'm seriously thinking of moving to Bondi. Or Nicks backyard.channels wrote:Possibly the straightest sand bank on earth at Dee Why.

Looks like I'll never bother with it then . Can't see it being factored into my bi-annual surf trip to the northern beaches
Re: Where did you surf today ?
It was odd. I saw a guy get a fairly nice one with reasonable shape. Paddled out and just saw close out after close out.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Didn't know you were not a northern beaches regular. I agree I wouldn't make a special trip for it as it's certainly nothing like a 365 day a year wave.Hatchnam wrote:Looks like I'll never bother with it then . Can't see it being factored into my bi-annual surf trip to the northern beaches
Re: Where did you surf today ?
I guess I surf there maybe four times a year. I like Bungan and rock pools .
If I'm making the treck north, I instead just keep driving to the Central Coast . The surf up there smokes the NBs

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I've spent some time on the northern beaches recently.
It's only ever good in summer or when there's East in the swell in my opinion.
Had a few ok sessions on the lid at long reef recently.
The bank at greenhills was nice this arvo, started on the lid then switched it up for the waterskate.
Had a chat with Juan in Brooky today. There's a 6'3 Campbell Brothers Mini Merk in my future.

Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.
