Always liked seeing Luke Egan surf.
That comp at Grajagan that he won. Great surfing.

Re: Your Top 5 Favourite Surfers of All Time!
I remember seeing Drouyn out at Kirra on a big day in the seventies. A bit cross chopped so some sections weren't holding up. Just doing big roller coasters across the face pretty impressive for the time.
MP of course. Too many Kirra sessions to mention. No one knew how he just appeared in the line up out of nowhere at the best time. I knew someone who lived in the flat underneath his on the north side of Kirra Hill. He used to just check the surf from there then duck over the back, paddle out, catch a few and then zip back home. I remember him demolishing the big lefts out in the bay there for the Queensland Titles. On one of those tiny squaretails with the 13 inch fins.

Wow. Simon hasn't had a mention for upping the ante on backhand surfing, quite a long way back.

The to 5 surfers of all time would be the top big wave surfers of all time. They're the ones with the big balls ...all others are just stylists with good timing....and who gives a faark about them unless youre into ballet and all that.

Sorry kkk I forgot being tops is all about size.
I find big wave riding more in a league with base jumping and monster trucks.

what about the blokes from the 1950s riding hunks of wood out at waimea?
but you said surfers before the dayglow 80s era sucked
Re: Your Top 5 Favourite Surfers of All Time!
Waimea. That photo makes me think that joint is sometimes just about taking off on a 40-50 footer before having it land on your head. Nuts indeed.

Steve ... as you so rightly know ... there is a is big difference between living and existing.steve shearer wrote:Kreeps, you ever get sick of living on the NB's?
The moving finger writes and having writ moves on ... now all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel even half a line ... nor all thy tears wash out a single word of it.

Re: Your Top 5 Favourite Surfers of All Time!
Actually im getting sick of 'existing' on the northern beaches...just came back from a trip to Montenegro,..korfu..portifino..split..kotor..malta..venice..havar..Dubrovnik. ....slovenia...istanbul....
Im existing on the nothern beaches but living overseas..
BTW...ive changed my mind on top 5 surfers..
My top 5 picks have to be the most aggresive pro surfers to have ever lived on planet earth.

Feel intimidated by their fashion sense?

You'd be surprised my son...Ben Lexcen got in, albeit on a technicality...but George is definately safekreepykrawly wrote:You write so eloquently Steve that you have inadvertantly lulled me into a false sense of believing that riding a blow up mattress requires any set of skills.steve shearer wrote:1. I know a few people that have hooked up with him and by all accounts he is a top guy but seriously....riding a blow up camping mattress !!!
I don't care if he's knocking on heavens door...God won't accept him if he's carrying that 'thing' under his arm.

Listen...I know you're supposedly omnipotent and all but can you please concentrate your attention on delivering some swell rather than waxing lyrical on a bloody surf forum.
