BELLS BEACH STORY'S

Post by Faniel » Fri Mar 13, 2009 10:08 pm

Hi All,

Heading down to Bells Beach this Easter,
Always wanted to go.
I want to hear any funny Bells stories,
You old fossils must have some classics ones.

Also, does anyone know any cheap 2 person accomadation down there?

Cheers Fan

Depends on your definition of "cheap".

A tent in the Torquay caravan park is cheap, but the man funk may get a bit overwhelming after a couple of days.

There's a couple of good rental joints in Torquay / Juc if you like the creature comforts, got this joint a few years ago for $550 for 7 nights ( $275 each ) and it was like a bloody penthouse inside! You could walk to the pub or down to main beach, big screen TV, stereo, balcony... luxury.

Now I've told you that I should also tell you everywhere will be well and truly booked out by now. One of the pubs in Geelong or bedstay on the Bellarine and a drive every day are probably all you'll get now. :(

stories you want eh, well some time in the 80s i rode a vespa from sydney to just past bells for a scooter run with 40 other idiots. ended up being about 300 scooters in the end. didn't have room for my board. but we built a ramp and i jumped the great ocean rd without being hit by a car.

so how are you planning on getting there?

Cheers Ringmaster, will follow it up

'Story's' was a deliberate typo to draw attention to the subject matter.

I intend to fly down and get greeted at the airport by this hot blonde i just met the other weekend.

Me and my mate went up to Torquay earlier this year. I recommend Jun Jac caravan park, nice place, awsome showers! However the dude who owns the place is a fair nut job, nice though

When we went to bells was about 9ish in the morn. We put on our wetties and were headin down the super steep stairs 6'4 under one arm. Im leading the way my mate behind me I looked up for a second and when I glanced back down at the stair case a decent sized lizard was on one of the steps. Scared the shit outta me did some fancy footwork to avoid it, in doing so my mate stabs me in the back of the neck with his board followed by somemore toe stubbing fancy footwork.

Make it to the bottom laughing our socks off. Fang our leggies on and start walking across that funky shit on the rocks, get to about knee deep my mate nearly steps on some big red crab he now shits himself takes a couple steps backwards slips on a rock and claims he got a good rock probing.

Other than that fantastic day.

The missus and I stayed in a B&B in Lavers Hill a couple of years ao, great place and the drive to Bells wasn't too far either.

Camping in Anglesea would be better. (Next town down from Torq's)

Its real close to bells, southside break too.

Theres a heap of good places you can hide in the Anglesa NP. And a free state campsite on Anglesea heath which comes with toilets etc....

heres the park map, the free state campsite is called hammonds:

other than that the big 4 campsite at anglesea is right on the beach and has cabins.
