What would you ask 'em? A request
Hey crew, I have been asked to be part of a panel of "surf journalists" at the approaching Noosa Festival of Surfing. Our task is to publicly quiz some of the leaders of the surf industry as to them and their corporate doings in relation to the sport.
Now yes, as you can imagine, I can think up some truly spectacular zingers on my own.
BUT! It struck me as more appropriate if I put some questions on behalf of some of Realsurf's finer minds. (please don't feel left out Rev, yanks etc!)
So ... let's hear it. What would you like me to ask these industry Potentates on your behalf?

why so little money invested into the Longboarding contest scene by the bigger companies, I understand that it is of a lesser profile and importance than the shortboard gig, but realistically the financial and support contributions of the bigger companies is fairly pathetic in comparison to what some of them shell out on the main focus of the shortboard scene. I wouldn't expect a lot, but it should at least be proportionate to the level of participation and contribution that is seen at the moment by the longboard scene. I wanna see a proper and comprehensive australian tour as well as more support for regional state and national competitions, this needs the support (both financial and otherwise) of the bigger surf companies if at all possible. I know for a fact that there is people on the ground to do the hard yards organising these things, but without the support of bigger business, it gets fairly taxing fairly quickly, hence the failure of such ventures in the past.

Can you ask them for me how we can curb the plasticification and commercialization of surfing.
How do we change the trajectory of these multi-national surfing company initiatives as to not completely destroy what surfing is all about.
FFS has anyone actually walked into City Beach lately. The headaches start as soon as my foot enters the shop.

Rip Curl will be represented by Australian CEO Steve Kay, global marketing chairman Neil Ridgway and environmental consultant Nick Russell. Billabong will be represented by global CEO Derek O’Neill and marketing manager Shannon North. Quiksilver will be represented by global brand manager Craig Stevenson and global brand ambassador Bruce Raymond.
Come on you guys....let's hear it. Make some sense. This is your chance to actually ask a tough-arse serious question of the surf industry bosses in public.
