religion is big business, look at the catholic church, they own a shitload of properties no matter where you live, and they still put a plate out at mass to collect more.

and there views are ridiculous. wearing a franger is a sin! what the fcuk is with that??

im with you infectious, theres nothin, its black. unless someone proves otherwise.

bear, i disagree, tell me why hitler exterminated the jews?not because of religious ideals?
why is the middle east always fighting? the jews...the muslims hate em.

god lives in the same house as the easterbunny, tooth fairy and santa....thats my opinion. and no one can argue that cause they cant prove its not true....

so true 'sydney'

Theres nothing more ironic than an athiest caring so much to rid the world of religion.,..that athiesm itself becomes their own practicing belief!

You can do better than that brendo. If they didn’t single out them they’d just fight another tribe of another religion or the same... e.g. Iraq (Shi'a 60%-65%, Sunni 32%-37%, both muslim and get on like a house on fire).

And yes I know it is still, theoretically at least, about religion.

There is a discussion by Professor Richard Dawkins who’s a world renowned ethologist, evolutionary biologist from Oxford University called God Delusion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe7yf9GJ ... ed&search=
They made us watch it at uni, and for those are into this kinda thing its a really interesting watch. And for those who aren’t don’t bother, you'll find it dry and boring and a bit of a wank. Enjoy, be cool to get other peoples thoughts on Dawkins opinions.

At the same time a christianity Vs islam rift is developing healthily under the bush regime...

The middle East is one of those situations that goes back so long, and there's so many blood debts, that unless every single group decides to put down all arms and cease violence, there'll never be peace in the middle east.

Religion is given as a fall back for conflict. There's always underlying reasons. oil, Land, political, grudge, etc etc...

:D Yep, I new your point brendo, just think that old chestnut is... old.

“War is, after all, the universal perversion. We are all tainted: if we cannot experience our perversion at first hand we spend our time reading war stories, the pornography of war; or seeing war films, the blue films of war; or titillating our senses with the imagination of great deeds, the masturbation of war.” John Rae

Now is this about religion or life after death?

i am insane!!! and i am proud of it.

i believe that the lord jesus christ came to earth and died on the cross for everyone so that our sins may be forever forgiven, then rose 3 days later. i also believe jesus will return one day and rescue his people.

christianity is not a religion, it is a life

It's a pretty complex old chestnut, I still have no idea the intricacies.

I've always been interested in religion and philosophy but when the average born again starts prattling on I usually say I'm an aetheist. It shuts them up and avoids any confusion about where they stand with me on the subject. I categorically do not want to waste time listening to them explaining religion on the infantile level that they operate on.
Would making a statement denouncing religion have any effect on religion?
Do you believe in an interventionist god?
One that answers your prayers?
Can you choose to believe or have you just surrendered your reason?
Are you willing to turn your back on science and embrace superstition?
Have you ever looked at other religions?
Other philosophies?
Do you understand the theory of evolution?
