Groots you need to find new spots. Didn't you used to surf some spot in vicco with some name like Easy Bay or Beginner's Beach or something? And now you're surfing Pleasure Point. Isn't there a Death Slab or Widowmaker Cove nearby?
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Apparently called Pleasure Point from back in Prohibition Days.
Cowells is the real beginners wave in the area.

Big Left at Flinders? I loved that wave. Paddle out was a PITA being about 500 metre's but on a 6 foot day you get some great rides.
But you're correct that Pleasure Point is mostly quite tame and a longboard-only place most days of the week, Steamer Lane is similar but it gets a bit hairier on bigger swells. I did go down to Manresa beach once, it was okay but the extra miles didn't seem worth it.
There is a bit more "localism" here than in Victoria so I'm wary of fcuking up in the bigger stuff. The moment I open my mouth it's obvious I'm not from California!
Noted mate, I'll get some next time. Steamer Lane is a great place to watch from the cliffs

I would definitely ride a mal if I lived there. How long is that series of points. Have you checked out Capitola down the end?
It's worth a Squiz. Funky old heritage listed pastel stucco apartments right on the beach. Old style tourist trap. I'm kind of entranced by all the piers over there.

Apart from the premier point in this area, the sand is so wide everywhere else.
Was hoping for an after work surf but I’ll leave the point to the hordes.

I had a quick look.
Looked fun but wasn’t in the mood for a crowd.
Probably should have in hindsight.
There was some massive wash through sets in bal too.

I did a lap with my son after school, it was small and building.
he snapped a fin out doing a lap and we came in.
an hour later it was twice the size.

groots all the good surf is north of SC, drive a couple of miles out of town and you start coming across a bunch of coves and reefs. Four Mile, V-land, a bunch of others. It's more exposed to the NW wind but there's a lotta good waves. Sharky but.Grooter wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 4:56 amBig Left at Flinders? I loved that wave. Re: Where did you surf today ?
also killer beachies way down the other side of the bay, Moss Landing, needs light winds but whoa.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
I went as far as Davenport once but only to check it out - and even a beach called Bonny Doon!
Cheers mate, I might mosey my way up there on the weekend. There are so many crowds at SC, its taking a bit of getting used to

Re: Where did you surf today ?
The Melbourne wavepool. While it won't replace the ocean, it was way better than I expected. Fricken cold though.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
i went surfing at pacifica once, just north of the pier. was big and good and cold. might have been february, not many people around.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
this was a million years ago however, the banks are probably different now
Re: Where did you surf today ?
as you can see i have rotated the horizon to conceal the location
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Contraversialy, I like what using kJs tells me about the surf. Take this coming week in Perth for instance where the wave kJs hover around the 80 to 150 kJ level, and compare that to the 1,000-2,000 kJ, and frequently 3,000 kJ, that I usually surf in Bali.
What it fcuking tells me that the surf is pretty fcuked.
Like last week, I'll be riding a lot this coming week.

I just don't have Lege's dedication, he'll probably be out revelling in it on a 27L 5'10 fish as soon as the wind goes sufficiently onshore.
