Disrupt Surfing Custom Surfboards

Post by Disrupt_Surfing » Mon Dec 29, 2014 2:32 pm

Our mission is to help you create and share your own customized surfboard. You tell us all about yourself, your ability and what you’re trying to achieve with your surfing. We use 3D printing design technology to make a digital set up of your board, you direct the art, finish and design and we finish the rest. We only use the best quality, long lasting, eco-friendly materials.

Our Surfboards can be shaped to any size, shape, colour or design.

If you can dream it up, we can model and make it.

We make a 3D modelling render of your board, before making it full scale and glassing, we then use print a design using a UV protective ink and inlay into the board.

We offer shortboards, longboards, softboards, SUPs, SUPs packages (board, fins, deck grip, paddle), leashes, grips, board bags, fins with products coming in the future.

there are no photos of this mystery 3d surfboard printing on their website or Facebook. just another pop-out retailer on the market.

disrupt: designed by kooks, for kooks.

They're all over gumtree sydney region like an Ebola outbreak. It's an eyesore. Their off the shelf designs look to be EXACT rip offs of other pre-existing designs out there. These clowns wouldn't know a single fkn thing about surfboard shaping or design. Anyone surfing a Disrupt board should be deemed as compulsory drop-in fodder.

I still want to know if these blokes can copy one of my old beaten up magic boards - the shaper is out of the game so its permissible to copy it IMHO

Doesnt sound like it 'tho, guessing its all pre-existing files and the custom bit is some silly colours.

Mr. Disrupt, any feedback?

Its a bit confusing the construction method and very little mention of the materials used
get a bunch of orders together - Cut finish paint and glass them in China, get enough volume to ship a container load and hooray
Pretty clever concept giving punters the feeling they are involved in the process, a sort of personalized mass production - although the website is a bit light on info re materials and methods

The same can be achieved locally using CAD software to email designs that can be viewed and tweaked on the punters computer or refined by a feedback on foil, rail slices etc .
Then use Local glassing and cutting resources

Yes well thats just what the kookokracy needs. To be designing their own surfboards.

Yes are we talking scale model or actual prototype?

Has to be one step up from buying a pop out shape. On this issue I've seen quite a few pop outs that are quite reasonable shapes. Guess we are going the way of golf clubs. Given the rapid progress of board design re: rocker, etc and the take up by board manufacturers of CAD the major manufacturers seem to have the most to lose in their attempts to differentiate their mass produced products from other cheaper versions.

A hand made surfboard manufacturer on the other hand is producing a premium product.......if they're any good that is.

Really you are paying for someone to make thousands of mistakes until they get it right.
Put your big boy pants on
I mean, tastebuds? WGAF?

Disrupt if we order a board are we allowed to come and check out the blank to ensure its what we are after before we get it glassed? If so where would I have to travel to do so? Sorry but I got another question do you have demo boards to trial?

That CV to ticks all the boxes. And a Roosters fan to boot. It's a joke site right? 700 boards a year
