EPS epoxy semi fish

Post by Beerfan » Thu Sep 01, 2011 12:12 pm

I started a thread a few days ago, but changed my mind ( was gunna do an egg, but now a semi fish ).

I can get marko EPS and RR just up the road, so im gunna try it out. here's a rough pic of the outline.

6'2'' x 12 7/8N x 19 3/4 x 14 3/4 x 2 5/8.

I have to glass my huie egg, which i might do with the RR also, as it only comes in 12 litre kits, which is much more than 2 boards worth!.

Hope to finish by xmas, will update.

Looks fun.
As a twinny it'd be a shape you don't see on the racks.

Cheers mate, i really like twins. Think i might skip the concave and keep the bottom flat though, keep it simple!.

love that template mate.

if you go the twin route, i reckon it would be wise to throw in some plugs for a trailer fin also.

beerfan, its looking very good mate, very nice. ive just cut in 6 channels on a spare bit of foam, im getting better, ive even blended em in correctly, once I get healthy enough got a old board to strip off the glass, will then cut in 6 and pratice for real one more time, then a six channel coming up :D

no beerfan, just dreaming, ever since I started this escapade ive been cutting channels into any spare pieces of foam I can find, in fact if anyone of the sunshine coast has some snaped boards or old pieces of junk I would love em,so I can cut channels into them. Beerfan I dont know if I can glass em, but im so so close to shaping them successfully and im proud as punch at how close I am to getting them right. Only trouble with em is I have to know try to work out rockers for them as I dont know that information, I will do some google searching and will probably have to call a friend, he will probably call me nuts, but I have to do it, beerfan I just have to, call it a obsession, yes its a obsession of mine.

That's handy to know mate, cheers!. There is a guy on the goldy with RR who will ship it happily, in 3 litre kits too. Just starting glassing the poly egg, and my Josh dowling keel fish isn't far off, so wont need it for a while. At least til xmas :D

Long time no reply. I'm going to try a veneer. Purely for aesthetics, and practise. Using a cheapo aquarium pump with the diaphragm reversed.

Need to clean it up a touch, and get some stuff, but should be done next week I hope haha. Will switch to clear tape too. Going to be 4oz s glass bottom, 4oz s cloth under veneer, 4oz s cloth over. Should be light. I guess?

Nah, just gunna leave the pump on for a few hours. Need some mastick (spelling?), and aquarium hose.

Ok, so its in the bag. Bloody hell what a learning curve haha. Dry run went well, but when i'd wet out the veneer and flipped, and tried to seal the bag with the board in it, things went wrong haha. Long story short, im using my old vacuum cleaner to hold vac, with much better success than the pump. No idea when it'll be done, its cool here, but I have a small heater on now. Been about 40 mins.
