I've had to knuckle down on a 3 month contract that's stretched to 5 and will probably stretch to 8 the rate it's going. Looking at what you guys are doing ( and JD's work ) is like strippers to a high security long stretch inmate.

Planned on a build at the end of the job as some light at the end of the tunnel. Huie's hooking me up with some of his supersonic epoxy and I'm buying about 5m of Kevlar and possibly some Texallium.

Just hope i actually find the time to do it this year. :?

Finally got into the shed. Starting trueing up the outline. Taking forever so i used the planer. Worked pretty well i must say. Started roughing out the rail bands. Im trying to put some belly up front. We'll see how it ends up hahah.

6'6'' egg mate, trying for some belly up front, and through the middle the rails will have less pronounced roll from the bottom, to a small amount in the tail. Bottom itself will be flat.

I'll add i have never done belly/round bottom so i don't know how this is gunna look when done haha

Now in keeping with tradition you must name this surfboard design ... :?:

The description you have provided ... a bit off belly with a flat bottom ... sounds like one of those gravely voiced chain smoking past their used by date semi-alchoholic leather skinned female barflies ... my choice of name would be "The Old Slapper" or "Middle Aged Slop Slapper ... M.A.S.S".

As to my shaping bay - well the back deck on BBQ bench stools. And as I commented, no possibility of glassing under those conditions - so outsourced to a guy down the back of Pottsville (Nth NSW) whose done a few boards for me previously and does a good strong and professional job. As you see its not a high performance short board so weight isn't a big priority - of the board that is
The colours - well they have a bit of a quirky story. I grew up Nth Beaches and Queenscliff Netball Club had these colours. I watched many a beautifully curved shape run round in those colours - hoped it would somehow transfer.

Spray straight onto foam Dug. Yep very pleased with result and even though its retro - ish planshape, the bottom is rolled under the nose, to flat to single concave and v from fins back. First surf was a shocker, but second one at the Alley on the Goldy was fantastic with long sucky walls and she flew :D
