CROOKED RIVER

Post by diggerdickson » Fri Jan 23, 2009 10:39 pm

As a kid I use to catch the train down to georra and with my mates for the weekends occasionally, I came across a guy that use to shape surfboards called crooked river, got a board of him once that was okay, he was a real top bloke. Does anyone know what happened to him, I understand that he is not down there anymore, just wondering.
no, Im not a surfer, Im just a garbage man".

I know who you're talking about DD, Clubby (Bruce Hennessy?). A few of my mates used to ride his boards. He used to do some crazy woodcarving/sculpting, from timber he found on his property. Think he even did a life size carving of Tom Carroll. Buggered if I know what he's up to these days.

He used to like putting glitter in his glass jobs, which i thought was kinda gay.

I learnt to surf on a Croocked River antique thruster. Bruce gave it to my best mates brother, when he was starting to surf competitively. Had this massive centre fin which we took out to make it a twinny. Had that same glitter coat that tiger spoke of. It's about 3 inches thick and site under my mates house still.

I loved that board, and it was responsible for launching the career of a now top 30 QS surfer.
