I've noticed that over the years.
Then you get the odd weekend, usually around Easter, where the whole country pumps at the same time.
I remember one time the wife's extended family were all having a get together in the Blue Mountains. We rented a house. We were all at the Leura Golf Club having dinner and the news was on the TV. They are showing how there's surf from Queensland to Victoria and show footage of Dixon Park going off its tits. I was practically climbing the walls. It was a major news story how much surf there was.

Non surf days have become surf days in this tipsy topsy upside down world where nothing is as it should be anymore.......

I love Autumn. Usually feeling the fittest I feel all year...like now. The days just have a mellow charm about them with a hint of cold in the air but warm water. All we need is some waves. Full moon coming up with the swell too.

I can handle (just) the lack of swell, but this persistent onshore malarkey that ruins what miniscule swell we are getting is beyond the pale! Enough I say!

So Easter Saturday I paddled out at Tuncurry Breakwater. We had checked it out earlier but the tide was too low and it was pretty crowded. We drove out to Boomerang and looked at it for a while. It was fairly big but wobbly and crowded so we didn't worry about it.
Back at the Breakwater there was a little more water on the bank than before but I wasn't optimistic. Sets cresting fairly far out. I paddled out near the breakwater and drifted across towards the main peak past the crew surfing next to the breakwater.
A peak came in a bit south of the main take off and I slid into it on the fish.

Nice drop down the face and as I swung into a bottom turn the wave hit the main bank, stood up and pitched. I gained enough speed from extending the turn to bore into the main peak. It threw out a long way and made a lot of noise as it hit the sand. The quad sat nicely low in the wave as I banked against the wall.

That put me into the next section that funnelled down till it was about to hit the end of the left coming the other way. That's where I got clipped at the end.

More peaks that surf and another surf that day at Crescent with eight wave sets and overhead bombs running down past the flags.Six more days of waves after that. Pretty good Autumn.
