Look at the size of that thing. It makes the one off Japan look tiny...

It would still need to intensify obviously but I like the look of that. :d

Good swell hitting Hawaii. Might be a bit early for you.

I'm watching the surf cam on pipe and it's like a lake.

Must be a long time between sets...

So I'm about 11 days out now. Any opinions Nick or Steve?

Fongvong is still hanging around, but I guess we need that to follow Phanfone's path and hope something new forms in the north pacific?

The current low in the north pacific will likely be gone by the time I get there.

OK so the swelll hasn't hit yet and should hit tomorrow.

Just read a forecast and the only real hope at the moment is Vongfong re-forming in the north pacific as Nick was illuding to earlier.

Bumfluff - looking at the cams this morning they are saying 5+m at Pipe.....

I fly out on Monday morning. I wont lie, and say that I'm praying it drops off a little before we arrive!!
Hope some swell sticks around the next week for you.

Haha hopefully it calms down a bit for you mate. Didn't look that big on the cams this morning but could be still building.

This isn't a surf trip for me, it's a honeymoon but I will go in if I see a good lonely bank.

I plan on doing a trip to Indo later as well as returning to Hawaii in the peak swell season as a spectator to watch the chaos.

Ummm... I hope hurricane Ana moves along before Tuesday.

Could whip up some good swell on the north shore if it passes through without losing heaps of intensity. Hopefully it misses the islands altogether.

Damo666 you better batten down the hatches bud..

So for tuesday there's a north west swell about 4ft heading for north shore.

Pipe works best on this north west, west swell direction.

But the wind is east north east and it's best when its south.

Is it worth getting a car and driving to the north shore from Waikiki?

I haven't been there, but....

Mate, of course it is worth it. There will only be small waves, but c'est la vie. In some ways, it will be better. You should be able to get a park. Early season, so there will be sand. You and your beloved can stroll along the beach, on the North Shore! Just to drive across the little Haleiwa bridge. Have lunch in some funky local place. As I understand it, the drive is just a bit over an hour each way. A day car rental in Hawaii isn't very expensive, is it?

You have some interest in surfing and you are on Oahu and might not drive to the North Shore because the surf is not excellent? Come on, mate. Eddie would go.

Was it revo who went to Hawaii and didn't want to take the bus to Pipe?

Chuns is more fun than a box of birds.

You can probably do both. You don't normally fly out till about midnight/ 1 am.
