Heading to bali next weekend for 2 weeks. Anybody have any directions where i might find a long term forecast to help me decide what boards to take?

will keep an eye on it up until last minute, but it's looking like i can only take 2 boards, so either an all rounder and a smaller wave board, or and all rounder and a step up.

Well if the last 3-4 weeks is anything to go by then I'd be taking that step up for sure.

This coming Thursday has 8-10ft at 19 sec forecast!!!!

I write up a Bali/Mentawai forecast every Tuesday and Thursday.

Here's the latest one: https://www.swellnet.com/reports/foreca ... ithin-week

And you can check the forecast graph here: https://www.swellnet.com/reports/indone ... u/forecast

Ps Friday's swell has been upgraded to 10-12ft+ across exposed spots in Bali

You have to buy a subscription to see the 16-day forecast pirate_agenda. Very useful if you're planning a trip over that way.

Bali forecast for 17/1/15 and the next 9 days after that?
Going to lob in Seminyak initially so I'm hoping for the odd windless morning or its over to the other side.

Beanpole, not looking good for the Seminyak area when you arrive.

Active monsoon will bring fresh to strong onshore W'ly winds that should back off from about Tuesday the 20th and then become more variable.

Swell wise, there's an OK pulse Sunday to an inconsistent 3-5ft at exposed breaks then nothing too major until the following weekend (Wednesday/Thursday/Friday 3-4ft or so exposed spots). So not the best outlook unfortunately.

That sounds okay for a few east coast spots. Not really worried if its only 3-4 over there as its 3-4 bigger than what's been on offer around here. Not going to try to run around too much given the time but I might go a bit West mid week then decamp to the East Coast to finish up. This clarifies a few things. Thanks.

Also clarifies not taking my bigger board.

.....and as the end of January approaches so does another possible trip to Bali. Any heads ups re: swell?

I'm heading over late Feb. Could not resist the $400 return flights. Whiles Im not a huge fan of Bali I think at current lower season prices its pretty hard to beat for value.

I really like going in the 'Wet Season'. Ive always got good waves and the crowds are lower compared to the Dry season.
Nusa Dua is one of the most under rated waves in the Island in my opinion. Ive had great waves there around this time of year and never had it too crowded.

Surfed Hyatt Reef time before last. Also saw Sanur really good but didn't have my board with me. The strait had been a no go for ferries and fishermen were not going out just before this.

Plumes of smoke and earthquakes with burning rocks and ash falling from the sky.

I've never seen the south coast flat Beany. But keep in mind that the wet season has been unseasonably dry most years for a while now and there could be a return to "normal" conditions some time soon.

I was pissed off enough by the rain last Dec (changed flights and left 2 weeks early) and Feb/Mar to stay away for most of the wet season coming up.

Do you think volcanic activity affects rainfall?
I often wonder if it works like cloud seeding.
