Re: winter fourteen
Hi guys, the 16-day forecast has its strengths and weaknesses, all mainly depending on which coast you're looking at.
For Indo, Cloudbreak, Teahupoo, WA and any other west facing coast that receives long-range groundswell it's great.
If you also work in the movement of the Long Wave Trough and where it may be positioned in a weeks time, you can get an idea on a period of heightened swell activity even further out. Like this forecast for Teahupoo which was written on the 9th of August, 18 days before the Code Red swell hit on the 27th.. https://www.swellnet.com/news/swellnet- ... bout-break
For a dynamic region like the Australian East Coast it becomes useful when looking at easterly groundswells from stationary high pressure ridges and easterly trade-flow setups across New Zealand/Western Pacific.
For the East Coast you're better off looking at trends and if it starts continually picking a certain swell days out that's when you'd start to become more confident in it eventuating.
The forecast model is global and to limit the forecast length at certain locations compared to others isn't really an option.

Perfect sand bottom point break waves all arvo. For its size a 9/10. My thighs nearly gave out one wave, finally closed out in front of cooly hotel. stupid stuff.

You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

the nearshore bathymetry gradient is fcuking nutz right now.
sand slugs 'til the end of time.
to be honest, and you can kick me in the nutz for this Braithy, I'm getting a bit sick of it and am starting to yearn for a deckchair clearing storm swell.

I scored some of this bathymetry this morning but it also scored me. Got pole axed straight into the shallow sandbar on a decent 4fter and it drove me knees first straight down into the sand, so much so I cannot walk due to me left knee totally fecked (swollen and bruised behind the knee cap). I may actually be out of the water for some time now!!!! Hope not. Will try some anti inflams tonight to see if that assist with me bearing weight on the knee. Otherwise it's off to the knee specialist for me unfortunately!!!

Re: winter fourteen
some of the sandbanks are captain insano.
only bugger is all my jewfish spots are sanded up to the gills.
I just want the sand cleared from the cliff lines and left at the point breaks.

I feel your pain, Don.
Not literally, I'm finally pain free after Easter.
Some of the sessions I've had down near Steve's place have been crazy, the end section of some of the points must be about 30% sand and backless.

The ironic part is that J Bay's been pumpin since the start of the Fiji comp, and we all know the CB surf was puss during the Fiji comp.
Will J Bay flounder and CB pump during the J Bay comp?
