what the fcuking fuck is this pattern of dogshit northerlies and bombastic little short man syndrome southerly changes?

we are in uncharted waters here.

It's a classic neutral ENSO state and yet the maritime continent and CS is behaving like we are in a full blown El Nino.

or worse.

Been hardly any Christmas beetles this year either.

This weather pattern doesn't bode well for the farmers.

Exactly...it's only two years since the whole country was underwater from a couple of Nina years.

if they are crying poor from drought now when we haven't even moved into an El Nino we might be really in position to understand what climate change will mean for this country.

Not a pretty picture.
Should be some relief later this week though.

Well now I'm confused braithy.... My old mans mantra was always "when the winds from the south the fish shut their mouth"

Anyway talking of fishing this was last weekends efforts off long reef.

Live yakas and slimeys. Would have caught at least 15 just undersized as well. Best catch there is a 79 cm tailor. Biggest I've caught or seen. Kingies are everywhere off sydney right now. Get out there people...

Yeah never seen a season of so consistently catching then just cm below legal. Sure there's a reason for it.

And landing a hoodlum off the rocks. That would be a challenge and achievement. Hard enough from a boat with nothing but water between fish and boat.

It ain't the wind, it is the water temp and the barometer.
Just change your spot and your target or method.

Best fishing I've ever had offshore was in West winds, the inshore fishing was rooted.

We get some nice marauding Kings in Lake Macquarie, they show up every year around the same time, Oct./Nov.
The only thing you have to worry about is other boats running over your line. 100 cm and 80cm. Both caught in the lake.
Bragging? A bit. :-o

Bought a couple to the gaff off the rocks at that place I was talking about earlier. Fought plenty for over an hour with nothing to show except stretched to the hilt mono which needed replacing. Either that or straight spooled in about 45 seconds.

Use to take about 5 spare spools of 20lb and a couple of 25lb with me each time I went there ...

You and I should go up there and camp in autumn. Fish the new morning light and the late arvy, surf in between.

Only started landing them when I changed to this setup. By memory it held over 300 metres of 20lb platypus platinum.
