This season doesn't know whether it's coming or going. Last night's storm was a major fizzer.

Early Spring felt like we were in for a doozy of a monsoon, now the energy has gone

We had two lines of storms come through yesterday afternoon and evening, about 3 hours apart.
Each one split in two as it crossed the Bruce Highway, due west of us and the sum total of our rainfall was 2mm. :(

We got the side of the second one, about 7mm all up.
Had some Euros over for a bbq, they still thought it was a good show.

the first line of storms passed through here about 6pm....I went rockfishing at 8.30 and watched the big cells to the south and next line approach from the W.

stayed till about 9.30 when a big crack of thunder and approaching lightning all of a sudden made standing out on the end of a rock platform with a graphite fishing rod seem like a very dumb idea.

Because solo rockfishing at night is normally completely safe.

Plenty of Asians seem to think so.

Looks like this trough which is accessing the northern australian heat pool and the following surface low expected off the North Coast/Mid North Coast this weekend will be pattern changers.

Almost La Ninaish pattern changer?

yep, the trough oscillates back and forth between coast and ranges before a surface low looks to form on Sun.

wet and windy, though deffo probability for some highly targeted surf windows in amongst wind changes, specially in that area.

Christ I hope so Don. There's been a few surges of warm blue water from the EAC which have tried to displace the spring northerly pattern but in all instances the northerlies have re-established with renewed vigour.

Hopefully this will herald a more summer-like pattern. La Nina-ish is probably over optimistic.

Have to dodge the thunder storms as well. Been an active afternoon last couple. Had a window after work that coincided with a vigorous band of storms that precluded me from getting a wave, again.

it's frustrating being a few hours north and watching all the storms on the radar down there.

Today's latest band of storms moving E/SE might give you a better sprinkle tonight Steve!!! Assuming they don't fizzle out prior to the coast.

Ironically a glass of wine after posting that the storms passed and allowed a window to grab a sly wave. As I pulled up home @ 7:30 the rain started again. We've had 120mls over this event.

Looks like Wooli to Yamba has marked the northern limit of the storms over the last 2 days.
