Spring
Tidy little pattern look set to unfold this coming week as a trough moving into the Tasman forms a decent surface low cradled by a high.
Maybe Oldman's hype call might have some merit after all.

Re: Spring
Models still struggling with the positioning of the low in the Tasman though, which will dictate just how much of the swell gets into the SE Qld points.

Re: Spring
sure, sure.
there's broad enough agreement on the surf potential of this low to not get too worried about the specifics.
worst case, 3-4ft point surf down here......best case 4-6ft.
just nice to see a low in the Tasman at temperate/sub-tropical lats this time of year.

Re: Spring
Already there Steve, already done and dusted, that award has been handed out to Spring 2012, even if the next 6 weeks are abject flatness.
Why is surf flatness always 'abject'. Cliches united.

Excuse me for interrupting the slight amount of megalomania in that call, but I believe, like "best anything" that call cannot be self-administered.oldman wrote:Already there Steve, already done and dusted, that award has been handed out to Spring 2012,

Re: Spring
Looks like peak is now early evening across North Coast with some solid 6-8ft surf on the cards.
Bit of a change from the last couple of months of weak windswells you've guys have seen up there.

Re: Spring
And my guess is through some fine tuning of the models/actual fetch, the real peak will occur during the cover of darkness and so once again SE Qld will be somewhat robbed of a good swell event in Spring.SAsurfa wrote:Looks like peak is now early evening across North Coast with some solid 6-8ft surf on the cards.
I'm not complaining though as it's certainly lovely to see some onion rings in October!!!
Just to shake this fecking woeful man flu that I've got so I can actually have some strength to surf this swell event!!!

Craig, that pic on the front cover of today's swellnet is as perfect a surf picture as I have ever seen.SAsurfa wrote:Looks like peak is now early evening across North Coast with some solid 6-8ft surf on the cards.

It'd be like you had gone to heaven paddling out there.

Re: Spring
Agree Don, looks like all the peak will definitely be overnight, which I absolutely hate!
And yeah Oldman, pretty sweet ay!
Personally I'd like to be the one on the wave though, not the guy on the inside, haha.

I don't mind that latest ASCAT Pass at all.
pretty abrupt jump in local S/SSE swell here.

Re: Spring
Cape Moreton reached gusts of almost 60 knts last night as that change came through. Pretty impressive considering the low hadn't even really taken shape at that stage!!!
I/we still need that swell to be more east of south....but latest model runs look to be getting it there!!!
Unfortunately my man flu looks like I'm gonna have to sit this one out......just so lethargic in the mornings at the moment!!!

Re: Spring
eat some concrete Don and harden the fcuk up.
it's not everyday we get a swell like this in Rocktober.
just checked a local point: 3-4ft with no-one out.
wind SSW------cross-off

Yeah yeah, righto Steve. I forgot we're not all hero's like yourself. With no energy whatsoever, I don't think it would be wise decision to attempt a solid point session with 1000 other cvnts, for both their health and safety and mine.steve shearer wrote:eat some concrete Don and harden the fcuk up.
