youll have the swell, but the winds will be shit for the point shep.....perhaps join the byron circus...
dont forget about halftide if the sands in... or the rivermouth just near it. surprising how many
locals round there dont know about how good it can be in a ne swell
and i think the foecasters are massively undercooking the forecasts for sydney area next week. 4-6ft, are they farking serious   perhaps they use the iggy scale

Maybe high tide main beach might be worth a look, or outside Wategoes...

otherwise, I'm thinking as that low slides SE winds will be lighter than forecast and the Point could be macking.

Let them undercook to their heart's content brendo.

Though I don't like the odds of the rock fishing community getting through the coming week without some sort of death toll.

Tuesday looks the day I reckon Steve for your local. Lighter winds and the swell will be more ironed out!!!

BTW - 10ft is a big call. Not saying I disagree with it.....just I don't think I've seen a forecast for SE Qld saying 10ft. Once it get's above 6-8ft+ it's all a bit subjective anyway.

a good call. no forecaster ever calls anything bigger than 8. ive seen waves break close to a kay offshore and thats supposed to be 8ft!! boolshit....
calling wave size on big days is just a dick measuring comp.

10 ft of straight E swell would see 10 ft at outside Snapper and Currumbin;8-10ft at Burleigh, 6ft+atKirra and Boiling Pot and around 3-4ft at Johnsons/First Point, 3-5ft at the Pass on the right tide and 6ft at Main Beach Byron, 8-10 at the Ox etc etc .

Would Burls and Snapper actually hold that kind of swell Steve?

Just changed Xmas to New Year Plans :D
Looks like only being able to get as far as the mid Nth Coast but that should do the trick I think.
Now the horror of battling Boxing Day road exodus :x :x :x :x
Did it one year and kids were skateboarding down the expressway in between the stationary cars near Karuah

Well if that latest GFS forecast comes off I'd be thinking Kirra/Pot and First Point are all gonna be above your calls above Steve. I can't recall the last time I saw a swell forecast like this one.

Hybrid low sat off the Fraser/Moreton coast for a week.

12ft+ tow-in sessions at Currumbin.

I had a look at the archive charts yesterday Steve from Xmas 2008 to early Jan 2009 and couldn't see it....but these were only 1 chart per day....but if you reckon it sat there for a week, then I would have thought I would have seen it. Dates?

Sorry Don.

It was first week of 2009.

BOM low res charts don't do it much justice......if I get 5 mins I'll try and dig up my surf report shots from those dates.

I saw the tow-in sessions with my own eyes though and spent a couple of frustrating days getting pounded trying to paddle-out to 10ft Lennox Point.

I think you actually mean Dec 2007/Jan 2008, don't ya Steve?

Archives are showing 16ft@10sec on Dec 31 2007.

Current GFS forecast is still showing something bigger than this for this Xmas.
