calling wave size on big days is just a dick measuring comp.
Exactly.

It was first week of 2009.

BOM low res charts don't do it much justice......if I get 5 mins I'll try and dig up my surf report shots from those dates.

I saw the tow-in sessions with my own eyes though and spent a couple of frustrating days getting pounded trying to paddle-out to 10ft Lennox Point.
at that size if ya dont get out on the high tide, ya aint gettin out. though you will get plenty of excercise getting pounded down to the reefs, then paddling in and running back round...

one of the most epic days at the point was around new year in 88. i was a grommie, sat on the rocks at the point and watched perfect solid 8-10ft waves surfed by only 15 guys. no one esle could get out on the run out tide, and i dont think there were to many takers anyway. all local boys including gunther pre farcked arm, and young shaun munro. epic epic day. the next day though was 6ft plus with a crowd of millions.....

apparently 4-6ft+ going by sydney forecasters..... + meaning anything. like saying its gunna be sunny with the chance of a shower
id say as the low slides dsouth, 6ft up to solid 8ft at ne magnets/bombies or triple overhead. perhaps some rogue bombs as well. 4ft waves break about 100m off a beach, dont see that happening...
oh, and if youre a hipster from bondi, dont farkin winge when north bondi is 3ft and wonder what happened to the other 5ft....

don,nc,shep, youre thoughts?

shearers one who calls it how it is.
ive seen his home town pretty damn big, when he said it was 18 foot, i reakon he got it about right.

btw if anyone is interested, i am trialling a device that measures how big the wave are as you ride them, it has gps and accelerometers like a wii or smart phone.
you can also mark the spot where the bombie is and it tells you if your not sitting in the right spot.

So if you can fit in a shark repellant and a tasser for crowded surf you could be on a winner.

I'm looking for the best spot from Snapper to Noosa to take some pics early on boxing day and and especailly the next day when its offshore early.

In the opinon of the more experienced ones here, where do you think would be the best spot to take some pics?

Last year I went to Burleigh and Kirra and got some 6ft + rippers. I'm thinking the same place again.

I'm kinda curious though to see what would happen on the Sunny Coast if they actually did get this swell...

Would places like Currimundi, Wurtulla and Maroochydore actually hold that kind of swell? I'm talking anwhere from 6ft - 10ft.

Any advice would be appreciated..

Currumbin.

Climb up on top of the big triangular rock.
Might be fun getting out there over the last bit with a king tide.
But yes, it can be done.
I've had to wade through waist deep water to get out to the keyhole on the odd occasion.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

I don't know shit about cameras.

Steve's suggestion would be great for photos, if you could keep your camera out of the spray. NFW I'd be crossing that rockshelf at high tide if the forecast pans out.

No.
There are some places nearby that will, though. Ask Sasha Stocker...

Sorry Boo, I don't know Sasha..

If you know of nearby places that would hold that swell, could you PM them to me if you can't tell me on here?

Obviously Noosa is going to be pumping and probably the most clean, but what about the open beaches?

Boxing day will be MASSIVE by the looks of it, but Tuesday will be "the day"... so far.

6ft and offshore early. Hopefully there's no hangover from the night before..
