Re: that wetsuit discussion...

You gotta ease in to surfing without a wetty top each summer. Toughen up the trunk. im back to the 90s. gone the full deck grip, so its rashie in summer or guts torn to pieces lol the upside is forced sun protection. got a dakine long sleeve top. 1.5mm back and chest neoprene, lycra over top of sho...

Surfed at Steve's point. Seems like every step I took on the way in, I stood on an urchin. Is there a particular season for them?
I thought the islanders had cleaned most of them out up there yrs ago.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Saw Doherty at the Point this morning. Fcuking hell you must be the only person in surfing who hasn't moved up here Carroll. tell me about it, I surfed heavy 10-12' waves by myself for an hour and a half this morning before a couple of the crew came out. Fcuk it was raw! But like, it's a Sunday mor...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Think I know the board you're taking about. Older tall bloke, on a grey board? If so, I had a look at the board when he came it. Mini Simmons type shape with channel bottom running about 2/3 the length of it, quad fin set right on the rails. Pig ugly board to be honest, looked like a mal cut in hal...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

WSL should just capture the highlights and produce a 1 hour package on constant re run between events. The show can be sponsored and sold to pay and terrestrial TV Man, tv doesn't buy stuff like this any more, they stopped doing that around 1984. they run a 1hr highlights for mens and womens on a s...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Wish the south west winds weren't up this morning. There'd have been a bit more size and definitely more grunt a bit further south. That jibbon head must have quite a shadowing effect on south swells. Most of the size seems to make it into the top half of bate bay, but the sting has well and truly ...

The enjoyment remains long after the cost is forgotten.
if you get it on, just one long barrel would be worth the cost alone. but I tshows, you don't

I prefer to see it as my board losing me. The board then has to take responsibility, not me.
that's gen Y attitude right there!

Re: Just general surfing stuff

"To grovel or not to grovel? This is the question" Of late when it's been 1-2ft I've been riding my 6'3 CV2 fish or my DVS All Rounder (7'4) . They aren't really meant for the small stuff, a few lads on here would say the CV2 needs juice, the All Rounder is an incredible board that really has a 2-5...

Re: swimming/paddling/misc water sports.

good on ya brendo. Here's a bit for your back/core strength and flexibility in the pool, get some fins and do some dolphin style butterfly kicking. You don't want the trick bodysurfing type fins though they'll do if you already have 'em, just the long straight sided pool fins are good. Push off und...
