You surfed on Nyepi? .Cranked wrote: ↑Sat Mar 17, 2018 1:02 pmTemples as usual, twice. Glassy when I checked it, onshore when I got out. No other takers
Glassy in the arvo. Two of us surfed hollow waves 1-2', breaking in less than 1' of water. Tide dropped further, too low for me after 2 hours - shitty walk in over the reef

Would have liked a single conc round pin quad shortboard but they weren't around then. PS check if the boat/resort has a serious GT spin outfit and some stickbaits and poppers you can borrow.

Got a Casio, hands not digital. For $60 it was cheaper than replacing the battery and resealing an Ice watch I used previously. It just survived three weeks in Bali and some solid waves, we'll see how i lasts. Says it's 100m proof. Hmmmm.

Also wider whales far more curious; they swim up to the boat, some even slowly lift themselves up with bodies five metres vertically out of the water and have a good gander before slowly sinking. Inshore whales don't seem to give a rats and just swim on by.

Up the coast close, down the coast wider out, as mentioned, hitching a lift with the EAC. From my eyes, fishing a lot from wash fishing, out to Browns Mountain, there were fewer inshore this year off Sydney heading north.

interesting. in theory, we could resume commercial fishing for salmon, and feed our cats the very best, whilst reducing juvenile gws numbers. everyone wins? already have. nsw ocean haul fishery can take two hundred and twenty four tonnes of sambos annually, between barrenjoey headland in sydney and...

Re: Rio Pro 2017 - Saquarema
In the now normal crowds you compete every day surfing in Sydney. With a rigid set of rules too. Apart from drop ins, snaking etc there's the unspoken assessment of who's around you - what they are riding, what they are wearing, their ability, their male status, familiarity, age, aggression, gender....

Yep consistent offshores and light winds when I was there 20 years ago in November December on the Pacific coast. and scored sunny weather overhead plus light winds on the relatively fickle and notoriously wet (but funky and groovy) Caribbean side. Sometimes you get lucky.

Check out 'biorock' - would make a great reef. Not sure how expensive it is or where it can be used (water temps etc) but it effectively creates a natural reef, so should be pretty stable. there have been some artificial reefs for surfing, but all have failed. Might be the design or the quality etc...

Cranked talking rain. It bucketed down this wet season. The three wet seasons prior to this one were El Nino super dry, so dry the rice farmers had serious problems. Was there for those "wet" seasons, which were really just the odd, brief, localised thunder storms maybe once or twice a week.

Though recent research suggests great whites at least can see in colour. Their eyes have both rods and cones, the necessary eye structure to do so.

Cranked proportions are about right for Canggu area except slightly more Aussies (both Deus types and older expat leathernecks) and fewer zillas. Course when the Bukit's small the ratio changes again.
