Re: 83BL Chilli board

Buzzy, not need to spend the money on a secure shed, buy a couple of board bags and a few "demo" stickers

Re: 83BL Chilli board

I like the shorter, wider, thicker boards as well. Living in Qld i just havent seen the 83BL and i am wise enough now to not fork out based on an internet image. If i had the chance to hear some feedback and have a feel of one, i d be sorely tempted. I used to have a couple of six channels 10 or 15 ...

83BL Chilli board

Has anyone ridden one of the these 83BL Chilli boards? I haven't seen one in the flesh but as a I learnt to surf in the 80's the belly channels and outline caught my interest. It seems to be fast & loose under Barton's feet but he's got a fair bit of talent: http://www.chillisurfboards.com/store/chi...

Re: A DEEPER SHADE OF BLUE

I must ve been watching a different movie to you guys! Didnt see billabong riders prominently featured at all or ockys crack  I thought that the plot was about showing the kids of today the origins and history of our sport through to the present day and beyond demonstrating that riding waves ...

Re: Firewire Sweet Potato?

Hi balts, I ve got back into mine recently and in the right kind of waves they re great fun. However, firewire are bringing out a more refined version called the baked potato that looks like it may perform better in steeper (but still smaller) waves. They re not available till june or july tho. I re...

Re: Stuck which board to get now…

Before you rush out and spend a grand on a McCoy research these forums. Yes they certainly have volume and are wave catchers but they do have flaws and are not for everyone....i couldn t do a forehand snap on one to save my life  You may also like to check out the MCtavish sumo thread on this ...

Re: Single Fin Nugget - fin selection?

Hi damo, If you are looking at a dolphin style fin, i reckon you d need a 7.5 to 8 inch fin, greenough style with good flex. Check out michael cundith s website (mc surf) in byron...and they can ship it to you. I tried a fin smaller than this as a single fin in mine and it worked to a point but it w...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

I grabbed a copy of smorgasboarder magazine over the weekend and they have a nice astron zot, lazer zap and mccoy section....its 5 or 6 pages with words from the man himself. Nice info about single fins and rails  and of course the dome bottom and fat arse tails. its also online at www.smorgas...

Re: Firewire Sweet Potato?

Yeah you cant go off the firewire website, you have to demo one....too many factors too consider other than weight and height such as age, level of fitness, experience/ability, body fat % Firewire tend too point people onto boards too short then you see them on evil bay...marketing i guess. ...

Re: The Diverse "Broad bean" Dynocore hybrid quiver killer.

Hey Pete, That s good to hear, I ll have to demo the 6 2....39 liters is spot on for me at the mo. I found that the FireWire elf struggled......but thinking about it me and the elf just didn't get along with or without gusty winds :D Off topic slightly, the crowds at snapper were hideous but not too...

Re: The Diverse "Broad bean" Dynocore hybrid quiver killer.

Hi cuttles,

Just got back from surfing Byron in quite a gusty offshore wind......any dramas getting into the wave on a light weight board in such conditions?

Will talk to you soon about the fcs side bites.

Re: 2+1 boards

Topher makes a good point, you get instant speed.....kind of like a quad....when taking off and they maintain momentum. And they go off the bottom off the top beautifully. Taking mine for a spin down at the points in Byron tomorrow :D Would love to hear more about your NPJ topher, my next sled could...

Re: 2+1 boards

G day uncle, I have two....a 7ft diverse SG model which I got years ago and a DMS crumpet which is 5'11. My crumpet has become my go to board for all conditions. The bonus of a 2 plus 1 is that you can play around with the fins, moving the centre fin forward and back or changing it, shapers.com.au h...
