Re: mctavish boards
I had a Ray Gleave until recently - great fun to ride.. incredible glide! However I wasn't a fan of the 3 stage rocker and the nose was a little flat. You needed to ride it like only Ray Gleave can. Has anyone ridden a Carver Fish? Not interested in how it went as a 5 finner.. more as a Thruster and...

Re: Peak Climax Front Zip steamer?
Not sure about that actual wetsuit.. other than they are made by Ripcurl. I am up for a new 4/3 this winter.. and unfortunately I am tallish, so finding a wetsuit that fits well proves to be quite difficult. I usually go for an O'Neill, but can't find my size anywhere! Hence, I am looking at an XCEL...

Re: Longboards - Rebuilding the quiver
Well that turned out well :? It's working out well for me. Anyway, I am still digesting the options.. and have a couple more shapers to call. Having said that, I am considering the following: 1. 9'6" Stylemaster or Nosea or Insight or ??? 2. 9'4" G&S D.Willson It appears that people have iss...

Re: Why do people dry surfboards?
Wet board in bag = wet bag = smelling bad = where ever you store the board, smelling bad.. make sense?
Then.. girlfriend / wife complains about boards (and wetsuit) smelling bad = less chance of getting more boards!
There is a much bigger picture than you think!!

Re: Longboards - Rebuilding the quiver
Thanks for all the responses!
After many calls to shapers and reading the above.. I think I have narrowed it down to what suits my needs and wants.
Cheers

Longboards - Rebuilding the quiver
Morning all.. Over the past 6 months I have cleared out the boards I am no longer interested in, and I am putting a bit more thought into rebuilding the quiver - rather than random purchases! I am after 2 No new longboards which will be surfed on points and fat beach breaks here in Vicco.. 1. 9'6" o...

Re: My new Baby...alternative?????
Awesome - I have been trying to track down one of those for a while! I spoke with the distributor, and he said that he was no longer importing them!
Where did you get it from? Is there anywhere on the Gold Coast that stocks them - as I am heading up there this weekend!?

Gold Coast - Surf Hire (No soft boards or surf school crap!)
A mate of mine has booked a surf trip up to the Gold Coast for the both of us.. :D but unfortunately via Jetstar. As you may or may not know, Jetstar do not take boards which are over 6'6" long. I ride a 7'0" Miller Powerglide & a 9'5" McTavish Ray Gleave and he rides a 7'4" Wayne Dean big boy short...

Same here.. just don't call it that.. call it a mid length and suddenly it is cool!Beerfan wrote:Im getting keen for a minimal ( i can hear the screams!! )
I think a 8 footer with a medium rocker would be fantastic in larger point waves and beach breaks where the 9'+ board would be too much of a handful.
