Re: Surf beach suggestions for beginner - Sydney

Good suggestions from ctd. Best to learn at low tide if she's just catching broken waves.

Don't forget that protected corners frequently have rips eg. South Palmy, DY kiddies corner etc.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Many people are too lazy to walk. I'd expect Granite and Alexandra may have had smaller crowds.

I haven't been there since the 1980s but enjoyed it then. Was it crowded?

NBs today. So, so. Low tide closeouts.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

yeah it can be really good, and for how it breaks. its a surprisingly easy paddle out. i stopped surfing on sundays a year ago. don't even check it. it's become my thing. A religious thing? Yeah, he's like that guy in Chariots Of Fire. :-D-: Monawatu wasn't perfect today but that didn't prevent it ...

Mick Fanning in semi-retirement?

Apparently he has announced today that he will only compete in selective events in 2016. Looks like no more world titles for Mick but after at least 3 critical life-changing events in 2015 some things are more important than trophies.

How do you know that it is Clovelly?

There are no references on youtube to the location that i could see. Clovelly btw is a steep and very pretty little sheltered fishing village - went there years ago. No surf.
